First State Bank is Hiring a Full-time Credit Analyst Near Middlebury, IN

First State Bank is in search of a College Grad in Accounting or Finance to join our team as a Credit Analyst. This position is responsible for assisting First State Bank Commercial Loan Officers with accurate financial analysis of loan transactions for current and future customers. This is a great opportunity to enter the world of commercial banking!

First State is community bank headquartered in Middlebury, Indiana. We have branch offices in Goshen, Elkhart, and South Bend. We take the term “Community Bank” to heart. Our headquarters are in Middlebury, Indiana. This position could be housed in Middlebury, or South Bend, Indiana.

Here are things that you would do during your workday:

  • Utilize financial software to analyze financial statements and related financial information
  • Perform administrative support duties (placing calls to lenders, composing emails and letters on behalf of Department, filing, assisting with the creation of loan packets for submission) to learn and understand the flow of work
  • Assess proper balance of credit strength and appropriate risk
  • Prepare loan write-ups and credit analyses
  • Coordinate workflow from loan groups/officers
  • Provide and request credit information/references
  • Review and monitor loan agreements and compliance

And here are some things you would do from time to time:

  • Conduct research of specific industries and regions in which customer conducts business 
  • Maintain credit records and performs periodic review of current customers.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and completes all training requirements related to the position

Here are some skills you will need to be considered for the position:

  • Bachelor’s degree with an Accounting or Finance major required
  • Understanding of business loans, credit reports and credit bureau analysis preferred
  • Strong problem solving, quantitative and analytical skills with high attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel essential
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Self motivated; ability to work independently

The position offers good working conditions and environment. You must be able to lift and move boxes weighing up to 25 pounds. You may be sitting or standing for long periods of time during your day. You will be working on a computer for most of your work day.
