Director Job Description
Overview:
To oversee and coordinate the music ministry for the Church’s Traditional Worship Service.
Qualifications:
The Worship Arts Director must be a person with strong musical skills and training and a desire to share the importance of traditional music styles as a means of calling and forming disciples of Jesus Christ within the context of small-group ensembles, rehearsals, and worship music. Choral directing and proficiency in piano are required, with organ preferred.
Duties:
· Provide music for Traditional Worship Services.
· Oversee the ministry of all vocal and bell groups
· Provide supervision of paid and volunteer musicians, for the Traditional Worship Service
· Help all involved in music ministry find their fullest potential both as musicians and as disciples of Christ
· Expand the music ministry through developing new groups as needed/appropriate.

Requirements:
· Plan and coordinate at weekly Traditional Worship Services a prelude, offertory, postlude, and hymns.
· Coordinate special music for Traditional Worship services, selecting anthems regarding seasonal themes and scripture/worship/sermon themes whenever possible.
· Schedule regular rehearsals and performances for all music groups, including special services of worship as requested by the Lead Pastor.
· Provide musical substitutes when not available.
· Communicate with the Media Technician regarding sound needs for Traditional Worship Services and other events
· Meet on a regular basis with staff members for worship planning.
· Prepare extra musical presentations for special services such as Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Ash Wednesday, Lent, Good Friday, Easter, Pentecost, and others.
· Coordinate music during the summer months when no choirs are available.
Coordinate with Lead Pastor concerning funerals and weddings.
· Familiarize self with current catalogue of available music and order music if needed, after appropriate approval.
· Organize, catalogue, and store all music and musical supplies.
· Be responsible for the maintenance, cleaning, and care of choir robes.
· Select music and musical groups for the Traditional Worship Service.
