The Warehouse General Manager is responsible for the direction, leadership and operational efficiencies associated with the Fisher Auto Parts / Federated Distribution Center assigned, including:
  • Effectively managing the Warehouse processes in such a way that all company objectives are realized and aligned with the company's core values;
  • Ensuring that inventory accuracy and expense priorities are met so that the assigned Distribution Center achieves and/or exceeds budgeted financial goals;
  • Ensuring that service objectives for stores are met to enhance sales growth and customer satisfaction;
  • Ensuring that an atmosphere of safety and respect for associates and customers exists in the Distribution Center at all times.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of distribution center operations to include: ability to provide direction associated with procurement, transportation management, inventory control, system management (including WMS operations), facility layout and design, government regulation and compliance, and budgeting and expense analysis;
  • Business and intellectual competencies to include: industry understanding, negotiation skills, strategic and tactical planning skills, warehousing, problem analysis skills, staff development skills, written and oral communication skills, visioning and creativity skills;
  • Ability to understand all facets of the Distribution Center's operations model including inventory management, stocking levels, warehousing, parts distribution and delivery systems;
  • Interpersonal competencies to include: Integrity and trust, dependability, adaptability, leadership, motivation ability, coaching and mentoring skill, corporate political savvy and initiative;
  • Analysis of current plans and processes to establish future objectives and goals for the efficient operation of assigned Distribution Center;
  • Organizes Distribution Center operations in a systemic manner, while establishing clear lines of responsibility through effective delegation and accountability;
  • Initiates and maintains systems and processes to monitor and influence associated expenses, budgets and overall performance standards;
  • Familiarity and full user capabilities with Microsoft Office computer products;
  • Listens attentively and responds in a caring and appropriate manner;
  • Treats all employees with respect and dignity;
  • Gains consensus and acceptance of ideas and accomplishes goals through Distribution Center staff, supervisors, peers, etc;
  • Shares appropriate information with Distribution Center personnel, establishes guidelines and celebrates success;
  • Working with Regional management to hire needed warehouse staff;
  • Ensures Distribution Center safety and security standards are established, understood and complied with;
  • Implementation of accident prevention/claims reduction strategies in assigned facility;
  • Provides input to the Executive Team for developing and managing Distribution Center budgeted lines and manages appropriate staffing levels based on the needs of the company;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic warehouse environment;
  • Ability to make sound, common sense business decisions;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a diverse population and workforce;
  • Ability to think in terms of overall leadership and business objectives;
  • Ability to effectively coach and teach associates to reach their full potential;
  • Strong organizational and motivational skills;
  • Ability to manage time effectively;
  • Working knowledge of automotive systems;
  • Ability to operate equipment utilized in the movement of inventory in the warehouse;
