Summary of Position:

The Clinical Director will assume responsibility for managing all aspects of the clinical department and will assume some executive functions including oversight of all clinical staff, implementing, and assuring compliance with all program policies and procedures, development of curriculum, development of program and program materials, documentation of services, billing compliance, regulatory reporting, and engagement with clients. The Clinical Director will also be responsible for the management of patient care, safety, and other duties assigned by the Executive Director.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include:

The Clinical Director is responsible for ensuring best practices are in place to provide the highest quality of services possible while safeguarding the dignity, respect, and confidentiality of the clients. Through leadership and supervision, the Clinical Director will work to maintain program excellence and accreditation among a viable interdisciplinary clinical team. The Clinical Director reports to the Executive Director

Essential Functions

1. Assumes overall responsibility for the Clinical Staff and Programming Activities; Serves as coach, mentor, and positive role model; Holds self and Clinical Staff to the highest standards;

2. Works with the Executive Director to maintain an evidence-based curriculum to uphold the Agency’s mission of moving individuals to self-sufficiency; Works to ensure all program compliance regulations are met at the state, federal, and local accreditation levels; Ensures all client rights, confidentiality, and grievance processes are protected and each client is treated with basic dignity, respect, and reasonableness;

3. Provides a climate/culture that encourages and rewards professional development and best practices; Creates a positive work environment;

4. Maintains a reasonable client caseload;

5. Ensures all services are properly and timely documented and recorded in the Agency’s EHR sufficiently for billing purposes and Medicaid compliance.

6. Oversees the recruiting, interviewing, employing, training, coaching, disciplining, and discharging of all Therapists, Clinicians, Case Managers, and Intake personnel;

7. Oversees program development and performance improvement to enhance clinical programming and patient care;

8. Ensures compliance standards are met within the facility and increases workflow efficiencies to ensure standards are met;

9. Ensures that all policies and procedures are followed regarding client care;

10. Develops and implements corrective action plans as needed;

11. Evaluates results of compliance audits and recommends updates or changes to policies and procedures based on those results;

12. Assists with client interventions;

13. Addresses client and clinical staff grievances and complaints;

14. Conducts quarterly compliance inspections and reports recommendations, findings, etc. to the Executive Director as needed; and

15. Performs other related duties as assigned.

16. Adhere to all policies and procedures;

17. Ensures that all services are properly and timely documented in the EHR;

18. Maintain absolute confidentiality of all information pertaining to clients, families, and staff and adhere to all HIPPA rules;

19. Displays a positive and professional image and attitude in all relationships with clients, families, peers, and in the community;

20. Provide verbal and written performance evaluations for assigned staff members:

21. Demonstrate responsibility for continuing education;

22. Participates in committees and in the Quality Improvement Plan, Strategic Plan, etc. as requested;

23. Participate in safety programs, etc. as requested;

24. Encourage staff to make suggestions for improvement for all Agency operations

Position Requirements / Qualifications:

1. Minimum Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work;

2. Active LPC and/or LCSW, in the state of Virginia;

3. 5 or more years of work experience in the field of substance abuse and/or mental health;

4. 5 or more years of supervisory experience.

Other Requirements:

Applicants will be required to authorize a background check and submit to drug testing. Failure to do so will disqualify applicants for consideration for the position.

Work Environment:

The Clinical Director will work primarily indoors in an office or in meetings with clients and staff. Occasionally, the Clinical Director may work remotely off-site. The job will require 5-8 hours per day sitting, 1-2 hours per day standing, and 4-5 hours per day working on a computer or computer equipment. The position requires mental acuity; knowledge of standards and best practices for Substance Use Disorder treatment; self-awareness; empathy; listening; oral and written communication, critical thinking, respect for privacy, and computer competency on a regular basis. May occasionally work longer than 8 hours/day. These requirements and working situations are subject to change at any time.

Pay: $138,000.00 - $174,000.00 per year
