Job Title: Assistant Manager, Healthy Families programs

Location: Corona & Ridgewood, Queens
Project: Healthy Families

Program Description and Position Summary:

The Assistant Manager, Healthy Families programs, is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Healthy Families Corona and Healthy Families Bushwick home visiting programs. This includes maintaining a full staff to serve families in accordance with the HFNY model. This is measured through a set of performance indicators developed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services and Best Practice Standards developed by Healthy Families America.

The Assistant Manager supports the Director, Healthy Families Programs in day-to-day decisions and oversight of the two sites, including hiring, performance appraisal, team building activities, adherence to the best practices standards and supervision. The Assistant Manager supervises three staff: one Program Assistant/Family Resource & Support Specialist and two Family Resource & Support Specialists, providing weekly reflective supervision, program support, and performance monitoring. The Assistant Manager will report to, and work closely with, the Director. The Assistant Manager partners with community-based agencies, as well as colleagues from other HFNY sites across NYC and NYS. They also work in collaboration and receive support from the Center for Human Services Research (CHSR) and Prevent Child Abuse NY Training and Staff Development Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervision, support, and professional development of one Program Assistant/FRSS and two additional FRSS.
  • Assists the Director, Healthy Families, with program management to assure quality service delivery and compliance with state regulations, including maintenance of policies and procedures.
  • Assists with the timely completion of program reports supporting data quality and quality assurance.
  • Provides informal training, team leadership and conducts staff meetings.
  • Acts as a liaison to community agencies to develop and maintain linkage agreements and referral base.
  • Assists with budget oversight to ensure program spending is in line with the budget and funder guidelines.
  • Attends HFNY program manager statewide and regional meetings and other related meetings/trainings.
  • Covers meetings the Director cannot attend.
  • Conducts participant record reviews and maintains the required data collection systems.
  • Provides documentation on services needed by and provided to each family.
  • Conducts Community Advisory Board (CAB) Meetings every quarter.
  • Assist with continuous quality improvement, planning, and action.
  • Plans activities for the families according to the program guidelines.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 2 years supervisory experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Home visiting experience required, preferred in the Healthy Families model.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer skills sufficient to document notes in the reporting system and to use tracking sheets in Excel.
