Fives DTS is looking for an Electrical Project Engineer in the Indianapolis, IN area.
What You Will Be Doing:
- The Electrical Project Engineer utilizes knowledge and experience to develop control systems for our industry leading die cast lubrication spray systems and custom automated solutions in material handling and product inspection.
- Create component to PLC based, HMI control designs to operate simple to complex mechanical systems including robotics
- Write PLC and HMI software programs
- Use AutoCad to develop control schematics, control panel layouts, ladder logic diagrams and P&ID prints
- Create project bills of materials (BOMs), listing all designed-in components
- Specify testing and QC requirements for control validation prior to shipment or start-up at customer site
- Assist in wiring machines when required
- Travel to customer locations to obtain design criteria, commissioning, operating, and troubleshooting of fully integrated control systems
- Train equipment operators and maintenance staff on system operation and service
- Maintain and improve professional and technical knowledge by attending or participating in direct training, educational worships, and professional publications and societies.
- Minimum 5 years of control design and programming experience in the automotive or industrial manufacturing industry
- Experience with Mitsubishi, Omron, Allen Bradley or Siemens PLCs and HMIs along with communication bus protocols and data collection
- Knowledge in using network bus systems, including Ethernet, ASI, and PROFIBUS
- Experience with Fanuc, ABB, or Motoman robotic controllers and Keyence and Cognex vision systems a plus
- General knowledge of mechanical systems where controls operate safety systems, solenoid valves, pneumatics, hydraulics, robotics, and motor controllers running fractional to 200 Client motors
- Previous experience within aluminum die casting a plus
- Excellent problem solving and communication skills
- Proficient in computer skills such as networking, AutoCad and Microsoft Windows and Office Suite
- Travel up to 35% of the work week, including some overnight when assisting with equipment installation and commissioning
- Bilingual - English and Japanese a plus.
- BS or AAS degree in EET, EE or equivalent experience
