• Work on a small team installing waveguides on Navy ships. Requires strong mechanical aptitude.
• General logistics support.
• Maintenance.
• Inspection.
• Shipping & Handling.
• Willingness to learn specific skills regarding waveguide, including RF testing and connectorizing heliax waveguide.
• Other duties as assigned.

Must have 3 years shipyard experience.

Must have strong mechanical aptitude.

Must be detail oriented and take pride in performing quality work.

Must be willing to travel.

Must pass a background check and drug test.

RF or RADAR experience a plus.

About Fleet Waveguides

We specialize in the procurement, testing, troubleshooting, and installation of waveguide systems onboard US Navy Ships.

This company began in 2022 so there is opportunity to grow with a new company.

Ideal Candidate:

• Calm, detail oriented, physically fit, comfortable working on ships and at heights, teachable, takes initiative.
• 3 years experience working in shipyards.
• Must be willing to travel, though most of the work is in the Norfolk area, and most travel assignments are weeks, not months.
• Ability to interpret engineering blueprints.
• Excellent writing skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift, carry and transport equipment and boxes.
• Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
• Able to perform duties that involve working in high heat, cold, humidity, noisy and dirty conditions, and aloft.

Job Environment:

Various Shipyards. Mainly in the Hampton Roads area, but also periodically other locations such as San Diego, Florida, etc.

In between installation assignments, work will be in our shop. Planning to move the shop to Norfolk, VA later this year. Currently our shop is in Newport News.

Benefits:

• Pay $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
