Partner with the best in the heavy-duty industry and apply today! GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION Supervise and coordinate the activities of production mechanics and service writers. Provide support to the Branch and Shop in ensuring that all customer orders have been completed and recorded. Train new employees on company procedures regarding service shop functions. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Review work throughout the work process and at completion, in order to ensure that it has been performed effectively and efficiently. Plan work schedules and assign duties to maintain adequate staffing levels, to ensure that activities are performed effectively, and to respond to fluctuating workloads. Provide direction and assistance in the solution of problems with employees. Communicate with employees and management on a regular basis to insure procedures are followed, new procedures and methods are considered and new approved methods or procedures are known and carried out on a timely basis. Appraise and document employee performance at regular intervals as required by company procedures, insuring a plan for improving employee performance and potential. Recommend pay increase based upon performance. Receive approval from Branch Manager and Operations Manager before discussing with employee. Enforce company policies and procedures, abide by same. Counsel employees in work-related activities personal growth and career development. Must communicate regularly with the Service Manager in order to ensure that daily operations are being performed efficiently and effectively while ensuring that quality is never compromised. Ensure that all jobs are recorded on the service log board. Ensure that the log is kept up to date. Ensure that each and every job and operation is written up as it arrives. Check for method of payment and over the credit limits. Notify Service Manager if payment arrangements need to be made. Do not start a job prior to receiving approval for payment arrangements by the Service Manager. Assist the Service Manager in calculating labor costs regarding all invoices. The number of labor hours must be calculated and recorded on the work order prior to assigning the order to a production worker. When necessary, contact customers in an effort to generate more orders. Ensure that all invoices are closed on a daily basis. Provide the Service Manager with a hard copy of all daily logs and invoices. Ensure that all order returns are the highest priority. Ensure that all return orders are completed and delivered to the customer the soonest possible. Original production worker should be assigned the return order. If the original production worker is unavailable, assign return order to another production worker and back flag the original production worker. Communicate customer complaints to the Service Manager for immediate intervention. Contact customers when delays arise and ensure that you monitor and follow up with the production workers in order to ensure that the order is being completed at the fastest possible rate. EDUCATION & TRAINING High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE Minimum of 4 years of general service shop experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory position. Valid drivers’ license with clean driving record. SKILLS & ABILITIES Monitoring: Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself and other individuals and organizations to make improvements or take corrective action. Judgment & Decision making: Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. Management of Personnel Resources: Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job. Communicating: Conveying information to others in an effective manner. Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Active Learning: Understanding the implication of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making. Time Management - Managing one's own time and the time of others. Mathematics: Ability to solve simple equations; ability to use mathematics to solve problems. Critical Thinking: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Coordination: Adjusting actions in relation to others’ actions Oral Expression : The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand. Oral Comprehension: The ability to understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Problem Sensitivity: The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not only involve recognizing there is a problem but also solving it. Deductive Reasoning: The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. WORKING CONDITIONS WORK ENVIRONMENT Exposure to Inside/Outside Conditions, Extreme Temperatures (average of 100 Degrees F), Humid Conditions, Chemical Hazards, Vibration, Equipment Noise, Work in enclosed and confined spaces.
