We are currently looking for a Survey Project Assistant to join our Survey group on a full-time basis. This opportunity will be in person based out of our Grand Rapids, MI office. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to engage in both office and field work. They should be comfortable handling administrative tasks as well as participating in hands-on field assignments such assisting with construction staking and drone and safety observation. Serve as the primary point of contact for field staff to assist with survey project documentation and adherence to standards.
General office and administrative duties (travel arrangements, expense reporting, scanning, meeting set-up, committee assistance, etc.).
Assist with field work by performing tasks such as field topographies, construction staking, structure reports, boundary surveys, and inspections.
Ensure survey vehicles are properly equipped.
Assist with data calculations, quality control descriptions with the Project Manager, and quality control of drawings for typos.
Perform basic CAD drafting and data entry for GIS.
Develop and improve processes related to survey project management.
Manage training database, monitor certification expiration dates, and schedule and coordinate certification renewals for department staff.
Utilize Microsoft Office and other software programs to prepare spreadsheets, perform word processing, maintain databases, and manage project documentation.
Assist with the preparation of PSA and proposal letters.
Answer and respond to telephone and email inquiries regarding survey services and gather information for surveying estimates.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3-5 years of administrative experience required.
Self-motivated team player.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while meeting deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
Detail oriented with strong administration, organization, project, and time management skills.
Ability and willingness to be in the field and perform survey work as needed.
