Job Summary:
The Lead Person assists Supervisor in a day-to-day workflow on the shop floor as it relates to parts and/or manpower assignments. Participates on production schedule/assignments as given by Planner, Supervisor, and Manager. Works with Planner to ensure parts flow to workstations/work areas. Coordinates with receiving, stock, and quality for parts flow to and from production areas. Notifies Supervisor or Manager of flow and quality issues. Initiates requisitions for supplies and tools forwards for approval. Trains shop floor Technicians as needed, including when quality issues arise. Along with Supervisor, the Lead Person is responsible for correctness of product made. Ensure Technicians document daily work hours. Forwards vacation request or time off to Supervisor for approval. May work or assists in many areas of production including receiving, stock, quality, assembly, test, and shipping. Has complete knowledge of business unit product line. Oversees quality and workmanship of fellow team members. May perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates workflow in test but not limited.
  • Checks correctness of product tested throughout the process.
  • Initiates requisitions for supplies and or tools as needed for production.
  • Notifies the Quality, Supervisor, or Manager of any parts or production problems.
  • Effectively communicates with team and Supervisor to maintain a positive work environment.
  • Once job orders/gearbox sequence are created from the supervisor, he/she will make the necessary manpower adjustments and distribute the workload to meet customer demand.
  • The lead will help assist with training as needed.
  • Initiates work orders for maintenance of machines or equipment and follows through until resolution.
  • Addresses (or escalates) performance issues with team members as needed.
  • Help assist working on the floor to meet demands.
  • Work with quality and engineering to create work instructions.
  • Marginal Job Functions: Can work and assist in other areas, Ensures 5's in work areas. May provide input to Supervisor or Manager on employee performance.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
  • Typically, 10 years' experience in industry, power transmission, or heavy equipment assembly, Test and Paint.
  • Basic skills in Word and Excel
  • Basic SAP experience
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • A combination of formal education, training, and experience to acquire knowledge and skills generally equivalent to those possessed by an experienced high school graduate.
  • Necessary Prior Experience: At a minimum satisfactory level, the employee shall have had prior work experience in a particular role within the company, or in a similar job with a different employer.
Additional Comments: Employee must have the capabilities to meet productive requirements as required and listed on route sheets. If not, a job function that lists productivity requirements on a route sheet, then the employee must be capable of performing the job in accordance with past and present employee's performance standards who have performed the job for which the applicant is applying.
