Job Description:

We are seeking ahighly skilled and hands-on Senior Accounting Operations Manager to join our dynamic team in a manufacturing or plant environment. This role requires someone deeply embedded in cost accounting who can provide meaningful insights through numbers and data. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing accounting functions in a fast-paced production environment and will be a key business partner, turning financial data into stories that drive decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cost Accounting: Oversee and manage all aspects of cost accounting, including the maintenance of the cost accounting system, analyzing costs related to production, and ensuring accurate product cost estimates.
• Cycle Counts & Cycle Times: Implement, monitor, and improve inventory control processes, including performing and overseeing cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy. Analyze cycle times to drive efficiencies.
• Bill of Materials (BOM): Manage the accuracy and integrity of the Bill of Materials, ensuring that product costing reflects the current material, labor, and overhead costs.
• Variance Analysis: Perform in-depth variance analysis, including material, labor, and overhead variances. Provide detailed reports and insights to the management team.
• Financial Reporting & Forecasting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Work closely with the plant's leadership team to provide financial forecasts and budgets.
• Data Storytelling: Translate complex financial data into actionable insights and recommendations. Present financial findings and trends clearly to non-financial stakeholders, ensuring data-driven decision-making across the business.
• Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements in financial reporting, cost analysis, and inventory management. Continuously review and streamline accounting operations for better efficiency.
• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely financial operations.
• Audit and Compliance: Support external and internal audits, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal control standards.

Required Qualifications:

• 5 years of hands-on accounting experience, specifically within a manufacturing or plant environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in cost accounting, with a deep understanding of inventory management, BOM, and variance analysis.
• Proficiency in conducting and managing cycle counts and analyzing cycle times to optimize production efficiency.
• Strong experience in preparing and analyzing financial reports for senior management.
• Proven ability to tell stories through numbers and data—analyzing trends, identifying opportunities, and communicating findings in a clear and impactful manner.
• Familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems used in manufacturing environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA or CMA certification.
• Prior Controllership or senior financial leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Experience leading and mentoring a team.
