    Description: The Flint Cultural Center Academy is seeking a dedicated Behavior Support Specialist to work with elementary and middle school students. As a Behavior Support Specialist, you will collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to develop and implement effective behavior management strategies. This role will involve monitoring student behavior, providing individualized support, and ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment. Experience in restorative practice is highly beneficial as well as successful experience in collaboratively developing functional behavior plans with members of the Child Study Team.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, social work, or other related field
    • Master's degree in school education, psychology, social work or other related field
    • Certified as Full or Preliminary School Psychologist by the Michigan Department of Education or eligible for certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) through Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB)
    • Experience and expertise in Applied Behavior Analysis required
    • Experience working with students with behavioral challenges from kindergarten through middle school
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills
    • Passion for supporting student success
    • Prior experience working with a diverse group of students/adolescents
    Responsibilities:
    • Assist behavior support team in referring families to Genesee Health Systems (GHS) community outreach worker. Manage referrals through GHS for families and students requiring support.
    • Consult with school personnel regarding relationships with parents and care providers concerning behavior support and related services.
    • Participate in PBIS and MTSS processes
    • Develop intervention service plans with parents, teachers, and FCCA Social, Emotional & Behavior Support Liaison.
    • Collect and document student behavior data.
    • Promote effective communication and coordination of services between parents and school personnel.
    • Work with FCCA Child Study Team (CST) to identify tier 1 and tier 2 student needs in the area of behavior.
    • Assist with creation of Functional Behavior Plans when needed.
