This position has a significant impact upon the environmental, personal and overall safety performance and culture of the facility, ensuring the plant is not only operating within all applicable regulations but driving continuous improvement is critical to the success of all our operations.

Key Job Responsibilities :

• Assist assigned locations in region for HSE risk and effectively set up processes to manage and mitigate risks.
• Oversee and assist assigned locations with interpretation of safety related standards, regulatory compliance, reporting and permitting.
• Participate in government, industry and community committees to represent the interests of the facility by communicating with authorities as needed.
• Establish key performance metrics for HSE areas for the locations assigned and ensure effective systems for reporting and feedback.
• Oversee training programs that ensure members of the management team assigned are carrying out training obligations effectively such that employee exhibit knowledge and understanding of EHS requirements.
• Perform and document monthly safety inspections, identify unsafe work practices, and recommend corrective actions.
• Reports all near miss, first aid and recordable incidents, prepares A3 documents and updates incident tracking system.
• Coordinate all site safety related workers compensations activities including communications between employee and HR, return to work assignments, etc.
• Manages site waste including waste water and other treatment systems and associated inspections and documentation.
• Maintains safety equipment supply and availability including PPE.
• Oversees regulatory compliance activities, including necessary reporting requirements for OSHA, EPA, DOT, DG, DHS.
• Maintain site SDS documentation.
• Maintains safety and environmental metrics in database.
• Maintains, prepares, and submits necessary permits related to safety and environmental requirements.
• Chairs Safety Committee and engagement activities.
• Other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned.

Education and Competencies :

• Undergraduate degree and 5 years of applicable experience within a manufacturing industry is required; multi-site support experience is preferred, but not necessary.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of time to attend meetings, attend & provide training, coordinate and participate in HSE audits, etc.
• Must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal with all levels of the organization.
• Must be computer proficient, especially strong in MS Excel.
• Strong emphasis on the ability to identify safety and environmental hazards or potential hazards and recommend actions.
• Must be dependable, have time management skills, self-driven with the ability to work with little supervision.
