FLIPANY is a 501c (3) non-profit, community-based agency that serves to empower youth and adults through health and wellness programs while influencing policy changes for healthier communities. An approved meal sponsor for the Afterschool Meal Program (AMP) and the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), a program federally funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), FLIPANY is proud to service Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties. Our innovative programs fight childhood obesity and hunger by focusing on healthy food preparation, food security, physical education, and access to food.

Position Overview:

The Summer Claims Associate will be specifically responsible for assisting with the processing of monthly claims for reimbursement for the Federal Nutrition Programs, consolidate billing, as well as provide assistance with weekly meal orders. This position requires a person with experience in data entry, finance, claims reimbursement, etc. We are seeking a highly detail-oriented individual who has outstanding aptitude for completing repetitive tasks, catching errors, executing precise action plans, and meeting strict deadlines.

Work Schedule:

  • Mon - Fri (9:30 am to 6:00 pm)
  • 40 Hours per week
  • Seasonal Position (June to September)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Understand and stay current on regulations and guidelines of federally and locally funded child nutrition assistance programs relevant as it pertains to reimbursements and claims.
  • Reviewing assigned claim, enrollment and eligibility data for submission of an error-free claim each month.
  • Reviewing of invoices, preparation of billing reports and tracking of food expenditures.
  • Recommend technical assistance for meal service sites and FLIPANY staff regarding claim related paperwork.
  • Assist with ensuring that all required reports are completed accurately by assigned deadline.
  • Cross reference State portal with caterer orders, twice a week to ensure accuracy of information and avoid any potential for non-reimbursable claims.
  • Collaborating and updating Claims Manager on work on a continual basis.
  • Meet several monthly reimbursement deadlines
  • Assist with State issued audits
  • Assist with weekly order review for approximately 180 summer meal locations.
  • Cross-reference supporting documents, such as Field Trip Forms and participation data, to minimize loss potential of non-reimbursable meals.
  • Prepare and store program spreadsheets and reports as directed.
  • Keep all documents on SharePoint, the Office 365 system. Keep Outlook calendar updated and relevant with meetings, important deadlines, and main projects/tasks being worked on.
  • Work cooperatively and maintain a positive rapport with FLIPANY staff, board members and volunteers.
  • Other duties as necessary to the department’s success.

  • High level in computer proficiency, including but not limited to; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Qualifications:

  • Associate in Finance, Accounting, or related-field preferred.
  • Experience working with data entry/analysis, billing and coding, or claims for federal reimbursement.
  • Must be detailed-oriented.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Proven track record of the above “key attributes”
