Florence County Government is Hiring an Office and Logistics Clerk Near Florence, SC

The Office and Logistics Clerk ensures proper inventory and maintains EMS infrastructure items. Essential Functions:
  • Makes frequent visits to EMS stations and delivers essential supplies and equipment when directed.
  • Drives EMS vehicles to appropriate facilities for maintenance.
  • Conducts inspections of vehicles, buildings and equipment as assigned. Documents deficiencies and reports problems to the Maintenance and Logistics Coordinator.
  • Maintains an accurate inventory of all department equipment.
  • Carries out assigned duties in all types of weather, to include extreme heat and cold as well as during natural disasters and other catastrophic events.
  • Responds to emergency calls for assistance as needed, providing treatment to patients at a level consistent with training.
  • Operates emergency vehicles and a wide range of life-saving/life supporting equipment, tools, generators, safety gear, sirens, and medical instruments.
  • Functions as a medical first responder when indicated.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed records. 
  • Oversees the payroll entry and approval process.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of County and personal health information of employees and patients in accordance with county policy and HIPPA regulations.
  • Requests and receives price quotes from vendors pertaining to a variety of supplies and equipment.
  • Orders and maintains inventory of uniforms for EMS employees. Keeps detailed records about uniform items that have been ordered for, issued to, or returned by EMS employees.
  • Answers the telephone; provides accurate information to callers and/or forwards calls to appropriate staff person. 
  • Recovers durable medical equipment from area hospitals.
  • Uses a camera in accordance with departmental policy.
  • Maintains material readiness of assigned vehicle(s).
  • Remains available by telephone for recall, if needed, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
Non-Essential Functions:
  • Performs duties associated with patient care and transporting patients by ambulance.
  • Attends pertinent EMS related functions as needed.
  • Attends monthly in-service training as outlined.
  • Performs all other related duties as required.
Qualifications: Education and Work Experience
  • Requires a high school diploma. Experience with one to three years of clerical experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Candidate must complete a first aid and CPR course and an emergency vehicle driving course within the first month of employment (provided by FCEMS).
  • Current or previous certification as an emergency medical technician preferred.
  • Must be in good physical and mental health.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid SC driver’s license.
  • Must be proficient in the use of computers. Must communicate effectively by e-mail and be able to utilize databases, spreadsheets and related software.

  • Must be able to function in cramped and confined spaces, hazardous environments such as those created by fire, traffic collisions, mechanical collapse, weather, and human acts.
  • The position will require maneuvering and lifting of an ambulance cot and other transport tools, and transport of medical equipment and patient belongings.
  • The employee must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds alone and one hundred (100) pounds with one assistant.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
  • Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, carry, move and lift 50 lb. objects regularly.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must have the ability to travel up to 10%.
