Position Vacancy Announcement
Florida A&M University is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications of the Extension Agent I vacancy. This is a 100% Extension and 12-month appointment located at Brooksville Agricultural & Environmental Research Station in Brooksville, Florida. The position is responsible to the Director, Cooperative Extension and has primary responsibility for planning, executing and evaluating county extension programs within the assigned area of program responsibility. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing family, youth and community extension educational programs to help people acquire knowledge and develop problem-solving skills to meet their needs. Developing and implementing an educational program include working with advisory committees, following a sound programming process, developing and executing a plan of work, recruiting and training leaders, utilizing appropriate program delivery methods, reporting program accomplishments, and supporting affirmative action programs. At least 5% 4-H programming will be required.
ResponsibilitiesPartners and collaborates with agents, agencies, nonprofit and other organizations and the public to meet the educational needs of local residents; Provides expertise and serve as a resource in youth, family and community programming in urban agriculture, health and wellness, financial literacy, economic development & entrepreneurship; Determines program needs by monitoring trends and issues; Determines program goals and objectives and identifies needed financial and human resources; Implements educational programs which strengthen communities, families and individuals, including youth; Utilizes various media effectively to inform clientele of program activities through effective promotion and marketing practices and tools; and Uses appropriate technologies to plan and deliver educational programs through workshops, seminars, conferences, media, one-on-one visits, field trips, tours and other methods.
Maintains knowledge of current research information in one of the specialty areas; Uses computer applications appropriate to the subject-matter being delivered and the collecting of data for reporting purposes; Develops and implements evaluation plans for key programs; Reports impact outcomes to clientele, public, administrators and other key stakeholders; Maintains and fosters relationships with the public and key stakeholders; Identifies and attracts resources to support the delivery of programming; Assumes other assignments and responsibilities in support of the total Extension Program; Makes individual arrangements for transportation adequate to meet position responsibilities and essential job functions; Assumes regular travel throughout the state, and occasionally at a regional and national level; and Programming will be conducted in compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action/Civil Rights policies and procedure.
Minimum QualificationsAll applicants must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following areas:
Family and Consumer Sciences, Health and Wellness, Education, Public Health or a relevant discipline. A Master's degree is preferred.

Experience in developing positive interactions with the public;
Experience in planning, implementing, marketing, and evaluating educational programs; and
Maintain a personal commitment to working with diverse clientele and colleagues.
Pay Plan
This is a Faculty position.
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate is subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks and verification of education. An official college transcript, a high school diploma, or other educational documents must be submitted, where applicable, at the time of employment.

Section 110.1128, Florida Statutes, prohibits employment by the State (including re-hire after a break in service) of any male born after October 1, 1962, who failed to register with the Selective Service System, under the provisions of the U.S. Military Selective Service Act, during the person’s period of eligibility (ages 18 through 25). Additionally, if currently employed by the State, this law prohibits the promotion of such person. You may be required to provide documentation.
This position may requires some evening and weekend work inherent to Extension program delivery.

Time Limited Position
This position is "time-limited". Time limited positions are funded by a contract or grant, auxiliaries and local funds having a defined expiration date.
