Florida East Coast Railway is Hiring a Director (Roadmaster), North Near Jacksonville, FL

Overview:

As a Roadmaster at our Class 2 railroad, your objective is to lead and oversee the maintenance and repair of our railway infrastructure to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. You will be responsible for managing track inspection, coordinating maintenance crews, and implementing best practices in rail safety and compliance. Your role is pivotal in maintaining the integrity of our rail system, enhancing operational performance, and supporting our commitment to delivering exceptional service to our customers. With a focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement, you will drive initiatives that uphold our standards and contribute to the long-term success of our railroad operations.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Plans work assignments and schedules for assigned district, including track inspection, mainte-nance, and construction.
Recommends construction of new tracks and repair of existing track facilities.
Requisitions supplies and materials to complete construction projects and district maintenance requirements.
Dispatches workers and equipment to scenes of accidents, impassable roadbeds, etc., to repair damage and restore service.
Investigates accidents, defective tracks, and obstructions to rights of-way and issues restorative work orders.
Prepares reports stating causes of accidents or concerning condition of tracks and issues rec-ommendations to prevent future accidents, damage, or track deterioration.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages various subordinate supervisors who supervise a varying number of employees in various gangs and line of road machine operators; is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units; provides project management oversight to other roadmasters to ensure consistency of maintenance practices.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree (B. S.) from four year college or university in civil or industrial engineering; or ten years related experience and/or training in track construction and maintenance; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILL

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS

Must have qualified under FRA regulations (213.7[a] and [b]) for track maintenance and track inspection (FEC A and B cards), motor car permit, and no less than a Class C commercial drivers license.

OTHER SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES

Must have computer skills in Microsoft Office and RATS system.

Job requires availability 24/7.
