Overview:

Florida Engineering is currently seeking an Assistant Structural Engineer to join there growing team. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience working for an engineering design firm leading and assisting on both commercial and residential structural engineering projects. Responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Liaising with the in-house team and the client to procure the necessary project information.
  • Calculation of design loads based on project location, geometry, local and state code requirements, occupancy and risk category.
  • Design and analysis of structural members, cladding, finishes and connections based on the calculated loads using rational code-based methods and finite element analysis.
  • Drafting and detailing of engineering plans based on design and analysis.
  • Creating engineering calculation reports and letters for submission to clients and building departments.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or related field – Master’s degree is preferred
  • 1 Year(s) of experience in a professional role
  • Must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
  • Actively working towards the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam
  • Experience in calculations and structural analysis using rational as well as finite element methods
  • Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) including: AutoCAD or SAP2000
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Experience in the engineering or construction industry is preferred
