The Licensed Mental Health Counselor shall have the primary responsibility of supporting the University Counseling and Support Services Center. The Counselor provides individual and group short-term counseling and crisis intervention to undergraduate and graduate students. This 12-month position also involves consultation with the Student Health Center and campus staff regarding mental health issues. This position provides supervision of undergraduate and Master's level psychology and counseling practicum students and consultation and outreach to the community and reports directly to the Director of Counseling Services.

Essential Functions:

* Conduct intake interviews with students who request counseling services.

* Administer a variety of tests that may include aptitude, skills, and personality assessments.

* Provide alcohol and depression screenings.

* Conduct individual and group counseling to students on a scheduled basis or through crisis intervention.

* Provides clinical supervision to practicum students.

* Provides outreach workshops and lectures.

* Plan, implement, evaluate and report activities conducted.

* Maintains up-to-date clinical notes on clients and supervisees.

* Consult with supervisors and staff as needed.

* Acts as a campus resource on mental health and wellness issues.

* Attends training seminars and staff meetings on a regular basis.

* Interacts with staff and students in a professional and ethical manner.

* Refer students to private and community agencies for additional services and resources

* Serve on university-wide and divisional committees.

* Represent Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs as needed.

* Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Power BI, SQL, LinkedIn Learning, as well as knowledge and understanding of the organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.

* A demonstrated high level of cultural competence and desire to work with under-served and underrepresented student populations.

* Familiar with Jenzabar technology suite for higher education and Banner financial system.

* Attention to detail and adaptability to a changing environment is extremely important as well as dependability.

* Moderate physical activity. Requires handling objects of average weight up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Minimum Requirements:

* Master's degree in counseling or social work; LPCC or LISW licensure; experience with PTSD, PDD, LD, and ADHD.

* At least two years of counseling experience, preferably on a college or university campus.

* Outpatient experience in a brief treatment model working with emerging adults.

* Experience providing culturally informed clinical experiences to diverse and underrepresented populations, including students from low socioeconomic status households, students of color, international students, and LGBTQIA students;

* Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours.
