In this role you will :
Handle all specialty injections that ordered by our FOI physicians. The Injectable Specialist will need to ensure the patient meets the insurance criteria for the specific injectable medication by reviewing the patients office notes. Once the criteria has been confirmed, the process of verifying insurance benefits and obtaining authorization for the injectable medications needs to be completed. The Injectable Specialist is responsible for calculating the patients financial responsibilities for the specialty injections. The Injectable Specialist will schedule all appointments using the physicians injection protocol and inform the patient of their financial responsibilities due at time of services. All injections will be assigned and dispensed by the Injectable Specialist in Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel. The Injectable Specialist must ensure the inventory for all injections are accurate.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Communicates effectively with staff, secretaries and physicians.
  • Receive and document all injectable medication prescriptions in appropriate fields and programs.
  • Review documentation/notes to ensure the criteria is met for the specific drug and payer.
  • Communicates with Secretaries regarding issues with documentation that require addendums or corrections.
  • Verify all insurance benefits for the specific drug and procedure codes.
  • Obtains all authorizations and pre-certifications.
  • Communicates with the patient on the process of their authorization.
  • Calculates and notifies the patient of their financial responsibilities due at time of their appointment.
  • Schedule the appointment (s) with the physician ensuring the physicians scheduling protocol is followed.
  • Encourages good communication with the Primary Care Physicians office, Insurance Carriers, Workers Compensation Carriers and various other facilities.
  • Documents and keeps accurate records on all injectable medication prescriptions.
  • Ensures that the patients experience with Florida Orthopaedic Institute is a positive experience.
  • Assure compliance with all company plans, policies and procedures set forth by the Florida Orthopaedic Institute
  • All other duties as assigned.
About You:
  • High School Diploma with 3-5 years experience in the medical field or Certified Medical Assistant
We Would Love It If You Also Had:
  • Experience in an Orthopaedic medical practice
  • Athena EMR experience
