Position Summary :
You must be detailed-oriented. The job requires both mental acuity and physicality. As the warehouse supervisor, you will assist the warehouse manager in overseeing the unloading of goods from our own trucks together with those operated by freight carriers.
The goods typically consist of furniture, lighting fixtures, accessories and various types of artwork. You will assist in ensuring that the goods being unloaded are thoroughly and properly inspected by our crews.
You will also be responsible for assisting the warehouse manager to delegate staff to assist with item inspections. You will actively participate in the inspection process and, if applicable, the damage reporting process.
You will categorize and enter the goods into our inventory system. You will be responsible for ensuring proper piece counts as well as noting the condition of goods onto freight bills and managing dock activity.
You will note any discrepancies between freight bills, packing slips, and customer purchase orders. You will enter data collected from boxes, purchase orders, packing slips and enter the information to produce a notification to our clients of the arrival of the product.
You will note any exceptions, take photographs, make notations on freight bills, and sign for and be accountable for shipments.
You may need to use various types of moving equipment to handle goods, such as carts and dollies you will always have a lot of assistance from your colleagues.
In summary, you will be required to actively participate in all facets of the unloading process.
You will also assist in ensuring that the correct items or goods are being pulled from storage and loaded onto the proper truck or trucks, with no damage.
You will be required to use warehouse management software and databases. You will be provided with extensive training on our system such that you will be able to operate our system accurately and effectively and ultimately possess the ability to adequately train others.
You will be required to assist in setting and meeting the goals and objectives of each workday. You will orient, coach, and motivate employees.
You will supervise the warehouse crew as to their daily tasks and projects while performing a wide array of those tasks yourself.
You will work alongside the Warehouse Manager and the Operations Manager to create a plan to accomplish the objectives for the day, week and / or month.
Required Experience and Skills :
The ideal candidate must not be afraid of physical work. You must have basic computer experience. You will need to have forklift experience or alternatively, be able to engage in our on-site training and certification.
Narrow aisle forklift experience would be a plus. You must have a great attitude and be ready to lead a team. You will need to possess a strong customer-oriented approach with the motivation to make our processes even better as we grow.
The overriding goal is to ensure smooth and seamless operations of the Company using a variety of skills all of which are targeted to create maximum efficiency and the highest customer satisfaction in the industry.
You must possess strong decision-making and problem-solving skills as well as excellent communication skills. You will be required communicate with the general public as well as current and prospective clients via phone and / or email,
