Our client, a software company, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director, Human Resources, to join their growing team. The Director, Human Resources, reports to the CEO and is a member of the Leadership Team. The Director, Human Resources is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Human Resources function, ensuring execution of HR strategies that support the company's goals. This critical role requires a strong understanding of HR practices, a strategic mindset, and excellent leadership skills. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, learning and development, and more.
This position is remote; however, candidates should be based out of: Raleigh/Durham, Chicago, Minneapolis, Boston or Charlottesville/Richmond.
Essential Functions:
- Act as the primary HR point of contact for the organization, partnering with Executive and Senior leaders to lead efforts and provide guidance on employee relations, policies/procedures, performance management, and organizational development.
- Develop and execute HR programs and initiatives that align with the company’s core values and objectives; analyze metrics to identify trends and propose solutions to enhance employee satisfaction and productivity.
- Build and execute a global People plan that aligns directly with the People Team and strategy
- Oversee and all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, compensation, and offboarding.
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, delivering timely and effective solutions.
- Support regulatory compliance filings or audits as needed: Multiple Worksite Reporting, EEO-1, Pay Data, SOC II, and HR/Payroll audits.
- Serve as the primary lead in working with legal counsel.
- Negotiate renewals and contracts with HR-related vendors and brokers.
- Work with the payroll processing team to ensure accuracy and compliance, as needed.
- Plan, monitor and implement employee performance appraisal on a set schedule. Train managers on appraisal system, and coach employees accordingly.
- Plan, oversee, and execute employee benefits programs.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; update handbooks and communicate policies accordingly
- Stays up to date with trends and new technologies in human resources and talent management
- Champion organizational training and development programs
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 8 years of progressive HR experience, with 3 years in an equivalent leadership role
- Experience scaling an early-stage business from 100 employees up, building programs as needed as the organization scales, domestically and internationally.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Previous experience with an HRIS, such as Paylocity, and familiarity with ATS functions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Experience supporting global and remote teams.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
Preferred Qualification/Experience:
- Experience supporting global staff, including the US, UK, Brazil, and Romania among other regions is highly desirable
- Working with, and separating from, an EOR is beneficial
- Human Resources certifications, such as SHRM or PHR
- Previous experience working in a relevant business model such as B2B SaaS/iPaaS or software service businesses is preferred
