SummaryAs a Staff Accountant, you will support analyzing operations, perform month end accounting close, maintaining accounting system and ledger, and analyzing inventory valuations in the Industrial Flow Control operating group. ResponsibilitiesAssist with month end closing activities to ensure accuracy and completeness including, but not limited to, journal entry preparation with supporting documentation and balance sheet reconciliationsAssist with preparation of property tax and sales tax filings. Oversee and back-up Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll (Pay Runs)Prepare general ledger, credit card and bank account reconciliations, and schedules to assist in the annual financial statement auditProvide detailed analyses and explanations of all transactionsAssist with special reporting and analysis projectsCompletes payments and controls expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports and recording entries.Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities, verifying federal id numbers, scheduling and preparing checks, and resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation.Ensures credit is received for outstanding memos.Issues stop-payments or purchase order amendments.Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactionsFacilitates payment of vendors, which may include verification of federal ID numbers, reviewing purchase orders, and resolving discrepancies.Other related duties as assigned.ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or EconomicsCPA (Preferred)Prior public accounting experience in a "Big 4" or "mid-tier" public accounting firm OR experience in a corporate accounting/reporting role (Preferred)Competencies And QualitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with customer-facing experienceDetail oriented and deadline driven, with excellent organizational and time management skillsAbility to comfortably work in a high-volume environment and manage multiple projects for our various brand companiesStrong, current expertise with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office ToolsProficiency with Epicor Profit21 (preferred)Ability to effectively work independently and with a teamCoachable, self-starter, and team playerAbility to fluently read, write, and speak English
