The electrical group is a dynamic team in which engineering, design, and leadership skills are combined to effectively support our clients. In addition to a solid education focusing on engineering, a strong set of personal competencies is a prerequisite for success. Being a team player and having an ability to interact effectively with client organizations, other disciplines, vendors, and contractors is essential. The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for electrical engineering and design development of projects in the mineral processing industry and will be responsible for project discipline engineers and designers. Day to Day activities include:• Senior Electrical Engineer for feasibility studies and EPCM mineral processing projects of significant scale • Develop and review project labour and material estimates • Prepare electrical equipment specifications and technical bid evaluations for equipment such as power transformers, medium, and low voltage switchgear, medium voltage starters, motor control centres, variable frequency drives, large synchronous and induction motors, electrowinning rectifiers, and power factor correction• Perform and check calculations including short circuit and voltage drop for electrical distribution systems• Review vendor drawings and resolve vendor related issues• Witness factory acceptance tests • Provide engineering assistance to construction• Prepare and maintain schedules, develop and monitor estimates, and manpower forecasts• Full competency in electrical design considerations and interdisciplinary interfaces required for the successful design of a complex mineral processing facility• Demonstrate a high regard for HSE, technical assurance, and safety in design• Provide leadership and technical support to other engineers and designers, knowledge share, and act as a mentor to others in the department• Have effective communication and presentation skills. Candidates must have the ability to communicate complex technical solutions to audiences that include management, co-workers, clients, vendors, and contractors;• Other duties as assigned• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and ten (10) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner• Professional registration and membership in technical society (preferred)• Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials• Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting• Managing and leading a large project• Project set-up, developing control-level schedules, progress reporting and project close-out• Practical field experience• Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs• Registered professional engineer in Canada;• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering;• Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years experience in an EPC or EPCM environment;• Mineral processing and/or Solvent Extraction (SX)/ Electrowinning (EW) experience is essential;• Experience with power systems up to 230 kV preferred;• ETAP experience preferred;• Familiar with the Canadian Electric Code and National Electrical Code;• Supervisory experience;• Competent in English and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
