DESCRIPTION:

The Environmental, Health & Safety (“EHS”) Manager provides leadership and oversight for EHS activities and performance for designated sites by establishing strong, working relationships with site leadership teams and employees. Directs and improves health and safety programs through creating strong partnerships, keeping in front of leading practices in health and safety standards, developing and delivering effective training, and thorough risk assessment and reduction.

EHS ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of EHS programs and activities for the facilities to achieve, maintain and exceed compliance with relevant regulatory laws and regulations as well as comply with FMI’s policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a true ‘shop floor presence’. Work closely with frontline operators and other shop floor personnel to understand the current state and drive permanent improvement.
  • Promote continuous improvement efforts in the EHS function, integrating tactical and strategic EHS planning.
  • Provide practical and technical expertise, advice, and solutions for EHS initiatives.
  • Work in and through teams, at all levels of the workforce, including providing expertise related policies, procedures, and services in EHS functional areas.
  • Build ownership and commitment, establish direction, drive for change, and get organizational support.
  • Monitor program compliance and conduct audits.
  • Track and report multisite EHS performance.
  • Evaluate technical and scientific publications concerned with safety management and participate in activities of related professional organizations to update knowledge of EHS regulatory and program developments.
  • Mentor others in the organization and regularly share best practices.
  • Facilitate safety committee and emergency response team meetings.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
  • Comply with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations, Company policy and accepted safe work practices.
  • Implement the Company’s environmental, health and safety programs in all departments/units within your respective operations.
  • Maintain and improve FMI’s Integrated Management System.
  • Understand the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, as applicable to your role.
  • Generate compliance reports as required. Update documents to remain current with the latest requirements and legislation.
  • Serve as the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Rep.
  • Coordinate site Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability programs and compliances of ISO 14001/45001 standards.
  • Responsible for managing the successful use of EHS management systems which includes the Corporate EHS directives, ISO 14001, 45001 certification and any other applicable EHS management system certifications or elements.

EHS CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

  • Current certification in HAZWOPR, RCRA, and DOT/IATA hazardous materials training is preferred.
  • CSP, ASP, OHST, or CHMM preferred.
  • Current certification FA/CPR/AED first responder training preferred.

EHS EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental science, or related field; or minimum of 6-8 years progressive EHS or related equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience preferred.
  • Semiconductor industry or other manufacturing experience.
  • SPCC Preparedness & Regulations.
  • Haz Waste CFR49 Manifest and Control.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, and OSHA 18001 Standards and processes.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining ISO certifications.
  • Subject Matter Expert knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 (Occupational Safety and Health Standards).
  • Strong environmental regulation background: air, hazardous waste, and wastewater.
  • Strong experience in project management and implementation.
  • Well organized with an appreciation of the need for detail and accuracy.
  • Results driven and accountable for actions.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates a high level of comfort interacting with all employee levels, from individual contributor to executive.
  • Innovative thinking to create continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and ensure that plans, guidance, and advice are accurate, timely and effective.
  • Experience managing people in multiple locations.
  • Must be able to travel regularly between local sites, as required.
  • Must have execution and conflict resolution skills, customer focus, tenacity, and ability to collaborate.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Must be reliable and have excellent attendance.

EHS PHYSICAL DEMANDS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB:

  • for extended periods of time, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, or bending to the floor; use hands to finger, handle or feel parts and materials; reach with hands and arms and overhead; and talk and/or hear instructions and equipment sounds.
  • Occasionally .
  • Lifting and/or moving items up to 40 pounds.
  • Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to differentiate shades and color to identify coating defects.
  • Near acuity or accommodation required for reading instrumentation and documentation, dial and digital gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of coating operations.

EHS WORKING ENVIRONMENT OF THE JOB:

  • Routinely required to work at multiple plant locations and comply with all safety equipment requirements including safety shoes and glasses.
  • Exposure to various chemicals in production areas.
  • Exposure to machinery, forklifts, and related production equipment.
  • Regularly exposed to moving equipment, mechanical parts, ovens, and risk of burns.
  • Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
  • Required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure to hazardous materials commonly used in a manufacturing environment (i.e., safety glasses and shoes, gloves, ear plugs/covers, mask, cleanroom suit).
  • Approximately 80/20 office and shop floor environment.
  • Low noise levels in office environment.
  • High noise levels while working near operating machines.
  • Physical hazards while working near moving equipment and mechanical parts.
  • Possible breathing of fumes, odors, dust, and mist.
