POSITION SUMMARY:
This position provides Spanish instruction to elementary students (K-6). The Spanish teacher's responsibilities include teaching oral and written Spanish and tailoring lesson plans to individual students or classes within the context of the PYP International Baccalaureate program of Charles Hay World School. To be successful as a Spanish teacher, you should be passionate about the Spanish language and culture. Outstanding Spanish teachers are energetic and able to inspire passion for the language in their students. Additionally, encourage parent/guardian involvement in student learning through open houses, volunteering, parent/teacher conferences, etc. Utilize technology to advance program and increase student involvement/achievement. Develop and promote good relations among community and school clientele.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Utilize assessments to diagnose students’ instructional needs in order to develop and support reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Create an instructional learning environment that establishes routines and provides for student engagement through questioning, speculation, and originality. Promote a learning environment respecting the dignity of the child that is perceived by students as fair and consistent. Incorporate additional learning opportunities for advanced and non-proficient students. Ensure all classroom processes, procedures and data collection are highly organized and effective with optimal use of instructional time. Motivate, engage, and empower learners to track and monitor his/her learning.Provide quality, accurate, constructive, corrective, specific and timely feedback to students that encourages them to perform at their highest level. Effectively communicate with parents and staff about student’s progress and opportunities. Teach, monitor, and collaborate with educational personnel, community agencies, parents, and students to increase understanding of the student’s needs. Actively participate in all staff meetings, PLCs, and other required events. Apply and implement knowledge, skills and new understandings to improve instructional programming. Advocate for and lead initiatives that will enhance student success in and out of school. Use professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice to guide ethical decision-making in practice.Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
May provide supervision of support personnel.Conduct supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to interview participation, training/development, assign and direct work, performance feedback, address complaints and resolve problems.BUDGET AND/OR RESOURCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Prioritize and schedule work tasks independently.Manage and maintain inventory of equipment and assessments.Project needs for budget planning.Maintain administrative records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and school system policy.Review services for improvements and make changes as needed to ensure quality of services.The education/training/experience, license/certification, general expectations, physical demands, and work environment factors described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Arts in Education with Spanish major.Master of Arts (preferred).
Elementary experience (preferred).
Bilingual (required).
English fluency will be determined through the application and interview process.LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Colorado Driver’s License.Valid Colorado Teacher License, Spanish endorsement required.
