Heat Treat Operator 2nd Shift

Heat Treat Operator sets up and operates mesh belt and draw pit furnaces while maintaining quality standards to meet customer requirements. Ability to process both thru-hardened as well as case hardened product consisting of low carbon and alloy steel. Continuous Improvement of processes and products are an ongoing function of this position.  This is a 2ND SHIFT POSITION DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES  Maintains proper levels of machine efficiency. Constantly on the alert for any variation in furnace operation and notify proper personnel: Mechanical defects, tray overloading, “Burn-offs” out, controls malfunctioning, and parts not heating. Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work area. Keep furnace records in order and files as used. Heat treat jobs as assigned on order boards. Maintain stock of parts in front of each furnace. Keep hoppers filled to supply steady flow of parts to each furnace.  Make sure each furnace is operating at the temperatures indicated on record cards. Record readings for furnace temperatures and flowmeter as required on proper flow. Set temperature controls and observe time-at-heat requirements for each load. Know parts washers function and keep proper water level maintained. Maintain correct level of quenching media in each furnace quench tank. Schedule tempering work in an orderly manner for efficient operation. Accurately maintain job tickets and records. Enter necessary information into furnace recorders.  EDUCATION, SKILLS & ABILITIES  HSD/GED or relevant experience Knowledge of basic math and mechanical skills Ability to work independently  Ability to obtain FL license Detail oriented-ability to enter in required information into computer system Prior experience as a Heat Treat Operator is a plus.
