We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and organized individual with previous managerial experience in the food and beverage industry with a focus on operations to join our team as Director of Restaurant Operations.

The Director of Restaurant Operations is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the restaurant and bar operations, ensuring the highest standards of service, quality, and profitability. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of the restaurant industry. The Director of Restaurant Operations will work closely with the Chief Food Officer to develop and implement operational strategies that enhance customer satisfaction, improve operational efficiency, and drive business growth.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Collaborate with the Chief Food Officer to develop and execute growth plans, including new restaurant openings.
  • Develop and implement long-term operational strategies aligned with the company's vision, mission and goals.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences.
  • Lead, mentor and motivate a team of restaurant and bar managers and staff to achieve operational excellence.
  • Oversee restaurant and bar operations, including staffing, scheduling, inventory management, and cost control.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork, professional growth, and employee satisfaction.
  • Coaches and develops direct reports to be strong leaders who achieve company goals and embrace its values.
  • Develop and implement training programs to ensure all staff members are well-equipped to deliver exceptional service.
  • Implement and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and efficiency across all locations.
  • Analyze operational data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure the highest level of customer service by establishing and maintaining customer service standards.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the overall guest experience and drive repeat business.
  • Ensure customer feedback and complaints are addressed promptly and effectively to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and manage budgets, financial forecasts, and performance reports for all restaurant locations.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement cost control measures to maximize profitability.
  • Identify and capitalize on revenue growth opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and company policies.
  • Ensure high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food quality.
  • Collaborate with the food and beverage development team to maintain and enhance menu offerings, ensuring they meet customer preferences and trends.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong leadership and management skills with a track record of building and leading successful teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of restaurant and bar operations, including food and beverage service, inventory management, and cost control.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Proficiency in restaurant management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Director of Restaurant Operations or similar role in a high-volume, multi- unit restaurant environment.

Working Environment:

  • This position involves traveling to store locations and/or neighbor islands for initiative implementation, maintenance, and training. Mainland and international travel may also be required for industry shows and research and development.
  • Requires ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays to accommodate the business. Additionally, the job requires the individual to be able to spend periods of time off island to execute company initiatives and meet store needs.
  • Work is conducted in an office environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces, including stores.

  • The position requires remembering processes, procedures, and complete information.
  • Will be required to learn new tasks, adapt to changes, and stay updated with industry trends.
  • Requires quick decision-making ability and at times with minimal information available.
  • Must maintain focus during tasks, especially when dealing with intricate details or repetitive work.
  • The position involves reading reports, emails, or other written materials as well as writing and creating documents and presentations.
  • Will be required to speak publicly when presenting information to various audiences including hourly employees, managers, vendors, and senior leaders.

Physical/Travel/Time Demands:

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Sitting at a desk or table working on a computer, walking. Vision, hearing, speech and literacy (critical). Lifting 50 lbs, pushing, pulling or bending, kneeling, continuously standing. Using chemical agents or wearing protective clothing.
  • The travel demands require the candidate to be able to travel to restaurant locations, neighbor islands for initiative implementation, maintenance and training. Mainland and international travel may also be required for industry shows and research and development.
  • The time demands require the candidate to be able to work flexible scheduling including weekends and holidays to accommodate business levels. Additionally, the job requires the candidate to be able to spend stretches of time off island depending on company initiatives and store needs.

Communication Demands:

The position requires talking and listening to employees, supervisors, managers, executives, and outside trade persons/vendors; written communication to employees, supervisors, managers, executives, and outside persons/vendors; responding to written or verbal requests; reading; composing written language; receiving verbal and written instructions.
