As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized care for patients with foot and ankle conditions. Your assistance in treating and preventing foot-related problems will help improve the quality of life for each patient. Responsibilities:

• Travel to and from clinics, based on physician scheduled location (Bedford & Flower Mound)
• Verify patient information, medical history, and confirm purpose of visit.
• Prepare patients for examination.
• Assist with treatment/prevention of foot and ankle conditions and injuries.
• Assist with minor in office surgical procedures.
• Send prescriptions electronically to pharmacies.
• Submit orders for diagnostic tests, labs, etc.
• Provide additional patient education.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
• Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment
• Protect the practice by adhering to professional standards, office policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements.
• Autoclave and sterilize surgical instruments
• Perform x-rays using in-house x-ray machine
• Clean and stock back-office rooms
• Inventory back office medical supplies and re-order
• Dress wounds
• Fit patients with CAM walker boots, ankle braces, AFO braces, drop foot braces, etc
• Fit and assist the physician to making corrections and adjustments to orthotic inserts

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

• Strong knowledge of foot and ankle anatomy, conditions, and treatments
• Effective with minor in office surgical procedures.
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) *Preferred, Not Required*
• 2 years in a medical office
• Experience with EMR (electronic medical records), medical terminology
• Previous experience in podiatry, orthopedic or urgent care preferred

Note: Experience with X-ray technology, podiatry, medical billing and coding are preferred but not required.
