OverviewThe Site Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing all site construction activities for the Capital Projects Group. This role includes reviewing engineering drawings and specifications, managing project budgets and schedules, preparing bid documentation, and maintaining EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contracts.
Responsibilities
- Ensure Safety Compliance: Adhere to companies material Technologies’ Safety Policies and Procedures, and develop a safety strategy with the goal of achieving Zero Harm Today.
- Lead Project Planning: Facilitate the planning and management of capital projects, covering mechanical, electrical, process, quality, environmental, civil design, and commissioning aspects.
- Analyze Project Plans: Evaluate project proposals to determine schedules, funding limitations, procedures for execution, and resource allocation for the design and construction of industrial facilities.
- Develop Work Plans: Create detailed work plans and assemble multidisciplinary teams for each project phase, including recruiting or assigning personnel to ensure clear roles, responsibilities, and authority.
- Manage Budgets: Prepare and oversee interim and final project budgets to ensure financial control.
- Oversee Commissioning: Manage the commissioning process for new plant operations.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) departments to ensure all regulatory standards are met throughout the construction phase.
- Direct Engineering and Construction: Supervise all aspects of engineering and construction to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office is required. Experience with MS Project and AutoCAD is preferred.
- Project Management: Demonstrated experience in project planning and management.
- Site Construction Expertise: Strong background in site construction.
- Market Knowledge: Understanding of construction materials and market trends.
- Skills: Expertise in schedule and cost management, procurement, and plant commissioning.
- Material Handling: Experience with material handling processes.
- Leadership: Ability to develop and mentor direct reports and team members.
- Lean Manufacturing: Experience with lean manufacturing or production is preferred.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with OSHA regulations, standards, and practices.
- Project Management Experience: Proven experience managing multiple projects across different plant locations.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience in a site construction management role.
- Work Conditions: Ability to work in environments with high noise levels and extreme weather conditions.
- Physical Stamina: Capability to stand for long periods, perform repetitive movements, and navigate around facilities.
- Personal Protective Equipment: Must wear required safety gear including hearing, vision, and hardhat protection.
- Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time, including occasional international travel.
- Environmental Conditions: Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances in various environmental conditions.
