Job Title : T&D Estimator

Location : Central Maine

Duration : Direct Hire

Pay Range : $135,000-155,000/year

Project Summary:

Our Client is a full-service utility contractor specializing in distribution, transmission, substations and utility grade solar. The Estimator will prepare proposals and estimates, covering costs of materials, labor, and equipment based on bids, quotations, drawings, and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Calculate complete scope of work for estimates.
  • Review contracts, proposals, and drawings; attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope and estimate requirements.
  • Assist in developing and supporting proposal responses, including writing work plans and schedule development.
  • Incorporate data from past projects, subcontracts, and productivity analysis reports into unit and man-hour figures.
  • Review all final estimate packages with leadership and key team members prior to formal quotation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage the RFP process for suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Interface with owners, partners, or other contractors to provide engineering and cost data for bid/proposal evaluation.
  • Follow awarded contracts, including estimating extra work items, credits, change orders, procurement of material, etc.
  • Facilitate contract handoff to the Project Manager, including job cost tracking and productivity analysis.
  • Assume additional duties and responsibilities as requested by leadership.

  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates self-motivation, strong work ethic, and proactive involvement with team members.
  • Ability to read and understand Requests for Proposal (RFPs), blueprints, specifications, and other documentation.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Education/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years' experience in Distribution and Transmission estimating.
  • Advanced knowledge of all standard electrical systems in T&D construction projects.
  • Highly knowledgeable in utilizing electrical estimating software.
  • Understanding of electrical transmission, distribution, and substation from 12kV to 345kV.
  • Thorough understanding of labor risk factors, including location, weather, labor availability, installation difficulty, and scheduling.
  • Experience with electrical transmission, distribution, & substation from 12kV to 345KV, Civil, SVC, GIS, and AIS.
