Position SummaryReporting to the Director of Online Communications, the Online Engagement Specialist plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing Fordham’s digital presence, ensuring it reflects the University’s values, mission, and goals, showcases its strengths to prospective students, and provides the Fordham community with relevant and engaging resources and content.
Additionally, they are responsible for supporting a community of campus-wide web editors and developing and implementing comprehensive strategies that optimize site performance and enhance the user experience using analytics and data to drive development.
Essential FunctionsWorks closely with the Director of Online Engagement to assist web editors university-wide with updating and maintaining web pages.
Serves as a project manager and takes initiative throughout the full lifecycle of projects; remains informed on the status and progress of web projects while lending knowledge and expertise.
Attends and assists with CMS training with the Director of Online Engagement on a monthly basis and leads training sessions as needed with groups of 15 people or more.
Participates actively in weekly team and university partnership project meetings.
Corresponds and collaborates with faculty, staff, and students regarding web updates via phone, email, in-person, and screen share.
Assists in developing new training materials and updating tutorials on an ongoing basis.
Provides support during and after training sessions to assist with web inquiries and to provide mini-training and refresher sessions.
Provides support with keywords and search engine optimization across university websites, including the University News site in WordPress.
Manages the Fordham Website search appliance to ensure the application is an effective tool for both internal and external audiences, leveraging analytics and keyword matches.
Reviews web analytics (SiteImprove, Google Analytics, BrightEdge) and provides metric reports to partners so they are aware of website performance.
Assists with content marketing, web accessibility, and resolving accessibility issues in PDF and digital forms.

Additional FunctionsProvides support and training to faculty, staff, and students as needed for SiteImprove (web-governance tool), Terminalfour ( CMS ), and PDF accessibility remediation (Adobe Acrobat Pro DC).
Serves as a lead with Search Engine Optimization best practices in various search tools.
Assists the Communications team with WordPress support relating to best web practices and web accessibility.
Liaises with the Creative Services team to select images for the web; crop and resize images in Photoshop and Pixlr as needed.
Oversees training for student interns and delegates assignments, and checks progress.
Informs university partners on the best web practices and accessibility guidelines to ensure ADA compliance.
Remains abreast of the latest industry trends, tools, and best practices.
Required Qualifications: Education and ExperienceB.A. or B.S. in Communications, Computer Science, or related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in digital communications including website management, HTML , technical support, web analytics, and Photoshop.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and SkillsFamiliarity with web communications best practices.
Familiarity with ADA compliance.
Excellent time management, customer service and support, organizational, communication, and teamwork skills in order to assist colleagues and the University community.
Capacity to handle multiple responsibilities and prioritize projects to stay on top of workflow and strict deadlines.
Preferred QualificationsMinimum Starting Salary $63,500
Maximum Starting Salary $75,000
