Medical Assistants provide critical support to the nurse practitioners and physicians in providing quality medical care to patients. The Lead Medical Assistant is a leader role in more ways than one, for our medical assistants and the rest of our team.

Responsibilities (included, but not limited to):

• Oversee the work of other medical assistants and ensure they are completing duties in an efficient and effective manner
• Assist with interviewing candidates for vacant MA positions
• Train, mentor, and assist staff with patient responsibilities and concerns.
• Helping other medical assistants develop the skills they need to succeed.
• Traveling to offsite locations to provide oversite of MA training and competencies, as needed
• Assisting manager with schedules to ensure minimal overtime within department
• Reporting job performance of MAs to management and providing input for 30/60/90 and/or annual evaluations
• Oversight of medical supplies, which includes working with manager to set par levels, ensuring supplies are not out of date, reordering of medical supplies in a timely manner to avoid running out of stock
• Reporting concerns effecting MA workflow to manager in a timely manner
• Ensuring daily, weekly, monthly clinical/quality checklists are completed and submitted to manager
• Room patient, take vitals, and establish a reason for the visit. Document chief complaint
• Work collaboratively with the provider for the coordination of quality health care for clinic patients
• Manage patient flow with the correct balancing of scheduled appointments and walk-ins according to the number and skills of providers present
• Clean medical equipment as necessary. Routinely check oxygen levels in the oxygen tank
• Prepare exam rooms and assist the provider with procedures
• Prepare patients for exams/procedures
• Other Duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements

• High school graduate
• Current Certified Medical Assistant with 2 or more years of experience
• OR Current Nursing License would also be acceptable
• BLS/CPR certified
• Supervisory Experience required

Work hours:  Full-time, hourly position - In order to maintain full-time status, a minimum of 30 hours per week on average are required, though 40 hours a week will be expected for this position. Hours are subject to change. Clinic hours are 8:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday, and 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Saturday. This position may be scheduled to work any of the days the clinic is open (Monday through Saturday) and may be scheduled to arrive 15 minutes prior to opening and may be scheduled to leave one hour after closing, depending on patients scheduled.
