Site Lead | 6-12th Grade After-School Mentoring Program

BASIC FUNCTION 

The 6th-12th Grade Site Lead is responsible for the management of an after-school mentoring program site of approximately 40-60 students. The Site Lead, in coordination with the Youth Coordinator, manages a team of Coaches (or group leaders) as they facilitate Monday-Friday programming from 3pm-6pm. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the primary support for site's Coaches; leading the team in day-to-day site and student management
    • Equip Coaches with the supplies and equipment needed to execute program activities
    • Support Coaches in day to day functions as needed (behavior management, transitions, activities, etc.)
    • Prep and lead team huddles to communicate any announcements, reminders, and/or encouragements and prayer needs for the day/week
    • Ensure Coaches' facilitation of daily functions and processes are meeting program expectations (stations, curriculums, discipline procedures, etc.)
    • Provide in the moment feedback - praise and redirection - to guide Coaches in leading well
    • Conduct weekly "Pros and Grows" observations of Coaches and the site
    • Lead trainings for Coaches as needed
    • Ensure that new students complete all onboarding tasks (completing a personal roadmap, signing behavior contract, being informed of incentives/expectations)
  • Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed
    • Conduct daily observations of program to ensure safety procedures are followed (red line reminders, doors locked, unauthorized check-out, no children without seatbelts in the vans, etc)
    • Ensure all adults have a name tag or other ID; unauthorized and unidentified persons should never be allowed access to the facility or areas where students are playing outside.
    • Immediately intervene in any circumstance that poses a safety concern. Report safety violations and concerns to supervisor and/or the Director of Programs as needed.
    • Routinely train/review various aspects of safety procedures/policies with the Coaches to ensure compliance and understanding.
  • Maintain a high level of stewardship management for the site
    • Ensure that the program spaced used at the Junior High is clean and in order upon departure daily.
    • Report facility damages or concerns to the Youth Coordinator
    • Report supply and equipment needs to the Youth Coordinator
  • Collaborate with the Youth Coordinator for site review and planning
    • Meet with the PC weekly to review site/team health and coordinate plans for upcoming week(s)
    • Take ownership and initiative in facilitating site specific activities that align with FMP values/end-goals
  • Oversee parent communication
    • Immediately contact parents of any students unexpectedly absent from program.
    • Communicate with parents about any illness, injury, or incident involving or affecting their child during program. Make phone calls for early pick-up as needed.
    • Collect permission slips as needed for field trips and other activities that arise.
    • Appropriately build relationships with all parent/guardians during pick-up, behavioral conversations, etc.
  • Oversee daily record keeping
    • Ensure ALL adults and students are checked in daily using the check ins systems immediately upon arrival
    • Complete injury/illness/incident reports on the daily of the occurrence
    • Maintain Site Lead weekly documentation (student info changes, tier consequences, etc)

    • Assist in the van transportation of students for our programs (if eligible)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Available to work 22-25 hours per week between the ranges of 1:30-6:30 Monday - Friday
  • Three references with phone numbers and email addresses
  • Successfully pass a drug test and background check
  • Have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

  • Ability to lead with enthusiasm and positivity.
  • Ability to use problem-solving skills and make quality decisions.
  • Strong relational skills with an ability to coach and correct in a positive manner.
  • Have positive experience working with children, especially kids from hard places.
