    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Must have completed a minimum of sixty (60) college credit hours, providing secure transcripts, or hold an Illinois Paraprofessional Certificate
    • Must have a minimum of one year of working in a school setting
    • Acceptable completion of all legally-required personnel processes, including Health Exam and Background Checks
    • Such alternatives to the above qualifications, including additional training and/or certification, as the Administration and Board of Education may find appropriate, necessary, and acceptable
    REPORTS TO: District 142 Building Principals and/or Superintendent
    JOB GOAL: The District Assistant assists Building Principals with implementation of the behavior program, while assuming responsibility for the maintenance of student discipline, under the explicit supervision and direction of Building Principals and/or Superintendent
    TERMS OFEMPLOYMENT:
    • 12-Month, Permanent, full-time position
    • Primary work location will be Hille Middle School, but District Assistant will serve all District 142 schools
    EVALUATION: District Assistant will be evaluated on a yearly basis, by the Hille Middle School Principal, in consultation with other District 142 Principals and the Superintendent. District Assistant will be evaluated yearly during the first four years of continuous employment, thereafter evaluated every other year. Continued employment based upon quality of work as determined by the Building Principals in consultation with the Superintendent
    HILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Coordinates after-school detentions with appropriate communication to parents, as directed by the Hille Building Principal
    • Assists with in-school suspensions, as directed by the Hille Building Principal
    • Assists with student arrival and dismissal, including coverage of parking lot, bus lot, and parent drop-off activities, as directed by Hille Building Principal
    • Routinely checks and secures the outside of the school building
    • Conducts hallway checks and provides general hallway supervision
    • Assists with lunchroom supervision
    • Supports Hille staff in conjunction with parent involvement, discipline cases, and investigations, as needed, and as directed by the Hille Building Principal
    • Participates in school safety drills
    DISTRICT-WIDE RESPONSIBILITIES DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR:
    • Assumes responsibility for the maintenance of student discipline, as directed by Building Principals
    • Assists Building Principals with implementation of behavior program, as directed by Building Principals
    • Assists with the safety and security with all District 142 buildings, as needed
    • Responds to student discipline referrals, as directed by Building Principals
    • Assists Building Principals in establishing and maintaining clear and supportive lines of communication regarding discipline goals
    • Maintains monthly discipline statistics and prepares a quarterly report for Building Principals
    • Assumes responsibilities for discipline referrals and parent communication, as appropriate, and as directed by Building Principals
    • Assists the Building Principals in establishing and maintaining procedures, practices, and documentation that will provide consistency in the District 142
    • Assists with implementing any items of control or enforcement of school policy, as delegated by the Building Principals
    • Provides written reports of student behavior problems in regard to types in irregularities, noting changes and frequencies of such, as directed by the Building Principals
    • Collaborates with staff at all school buildings to develop incentive programs, as directed by the Building Principals
    • Treats all people within the educational community fairly, equitably, and with dignity and respect
    • Maintains an enthusiastic, positive, and supportive attitude toward the work being done in the service of children
    • Holds the safety and security of students and staff in the highest regard
    • Must adhere to Illinois School Code regarding the handling of Student Records; maintaining confidentiality in all matters
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Principals or Superintendent
    RESPONSIBILITIES DURING THE SUMMER:
    • Creates end-of-year discipline reports for all D142 Building Principals and the Superintendent
    • Assists all D142 Building Principals in evaluating the previous school year’s discipline and security, and assists in planning for the next school year, as directed by the Superintendent
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
