Forestar Group is Hiring an Operational Accounting Mgr-FG Near Arlington, TX
Forestar Group Inc. is a residential and real estate development company and a majority-owned subsidiary of D.R. Horton, Inc., the largest homebuilder by volume in the United States for sixteen consecutive years. Forestar Group is currently looking for an Operational Accounting Manager. The right candidate will be responsible for ensuring the financial statements for each of the company’s operating divisions/regions are free of material misstatements and, ensuring that the company’s operating divisions are complying with corporate accounting and operational policies. The Operational Accounting Manager will be the primary point of contact and act as a liaison at the corporate office for all divisions/regions as it relates to Accounting and Finance matters and will be responsible for all internal reporting at the division/region levels. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for ensuring that all assigned Region and Division financial statement are prepared in accordance with GAAP
Formulate understanding of the Forestar business model and evaluates ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness
Assist Forestar locations in developing or applying the proper accounting treatment for complex and/or unusual transactions
Provide outstanding service and support to Forestar locations. Act as a liaison and advocate between the Forestar division/region and the corporate office
Perform monthly analysis and review of the Forestar general ledger, job cost information and operational metrics for accuracy
Oversee the monthly budget review process, and provides additional insight as necessary
Lead the monthly and quarterly accounting close process for Forestar locations
Provide training and ongoing guidance in systems, policies, and procedures to Forestar locations
Complete additional accounting or finance projects as assigned
Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
Ability to travel overnight

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or related field
Four years of related experience
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via FOR applications
Proficiency with MS Office and email
Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
The noise level is generally moderate
Preferred Qualifications
Four plus years of Public accounting experience preferred
Big 4 accounting experience strongly preferred
Experience using JD Edwards, especially G/L and Job Cost is a plus
Experience with job cost (cost accounting) environment helpful
