Forks Lath & Plaster, Inc. is Hiring a Construction Estimator Near Grand Forks, ND

Forks Lath & Plaster (FLP) is currently seeking a motivated individual to join our leadership team. We are looking for a full time Estimator.

This position can either be located in Fargo, ND or Grand Forks, ND.

FLP has been in business for over 25 years and offers excellent compensation packages, along with a stable and solid work environment.

Applicants must have/possess:

  • High physical capacity/able to lift 50 lbs
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or other related degree
  • Driver’s license and reliable means of transportation
  • Clear background screen

The primary role of the Estimator includes the following essential functions:

  • Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects
  • Obtains and evaluates bids from various contractors, vendors, and suppliers and identifies qualified bidders
  • Prepares the required documents and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Resolves cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
  • Maintains unit pricing database by collecting current market rates from contractors, and review of recent bid results and monitoring market trends
  • Captures historical cost data and entry to cost modeling forecasting software
  • Read and interpret project plans, specifications, and other criteria to provide detailed estimates
  • Utilize company approved costing methodology, data, and systems to present estimate results in a detailed breakdown format suitable for use by the project team
  • Understand timelines and applicable project deadlines
  • Maintain knowledge of pricing, schedules, and typical construction details.
  • Maintains quality service by following company standards
  • Build and maintains effective relationships with customers, owners, contractors, suppliers, and other FLP employees
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 2 years of experience in Construction Estimating or related field (preferred)
  • Associate's / Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or related degree (required)
  • Proficiency (or willing to learn) construction estimating software such as Planswift, OST, Procore, Auto Desk, and Blue Beam
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, organization and time management skills
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles and practices
  • Familiarity with construction materials, methods, and building codes
  • Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing from contractors and suppliers
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and other technical documents
