Pay range: $55,000.00-$58,000.00

Summary:

Responsible to the Product Line Manager (PLM) for execution of the day-to-day requirements ensuring the profitability, viability, sustainability and growth of the assigned Product Category. This includes, but is not limited to, conducting market research, defining product specifications, establishing promotional and steady-state product pricing, preparing Product Category and Sub-Category financial and pricing analysis, working effectively on cross-Departmental Teams, ensuring compliance with Company Brand Management, and publishing Company-wide directives. The Product Analyst must be able to effectively communicate and negotiate with current and potential Customers, Suppliers and Manufacturers. Additionally, the Product Analyst must be able to effectively provide Customer Service Level-2 technical support for the assigned Product Category and support the Field Sales Team with product demonstrations and business proposal presentations. Some travel is required.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conducting market research on all existing and potential products and programs within the assigned Product Category. This includes determining potential areas of growth, defining product specifications and establishing product pricing to ensure minimum Contribution and Profit Margins are met. 
  • Responsible for preparing financial and pricing analysis to monitor, track and predict product performance and to support Product Line Reviews.
  • Responsible for providing Level-2 technical support to Customer Service and end-users on the products within the assigned Product Category.
  • Responsible for working directly with Sales & Marketing to create in-store and on-line Point-of-Purchase (POP) merchandising and in-house, field and Customer training materials. 
  • Must be able to work effectively on cross-Departmental Teams to ensure all aspects of introducing new products and programs are accounted for, and completed, in accordance with established milestones and timelines.
  • Must be able to understand the Company’s Brand Management Directives and ensure that all products within the assigned Product Category strictly adhere to the policies.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and via written document. This includes drafting and releasing company-wide directives affecting product introduction, product pricing and other product dispositions.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and negotiate, in conjunction with the SPM and/or Procurement Officer, with current and potential Customers, Suppliers and Manufacturers.
  • Must be willing to travel to support the Field Sales Team with product demonstrations and/or presenting business proposals to existing and new Customers. Additionally, must be willing to travel to vet and negotiate with existing and potential Suppliers and Manufacturers. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Qualification Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business and/or Marketing with emphasis on Product Development/Management and Pricing/Financial Analysis; or,
  • Associates Degree in Business and/or Marketing and two (2) years actual work experience as a Product Line Manager (or similar field); or,
  • Four (4) years actual work experience as a Product Manager (or similar field). 

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical information and journals, financial analysis and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management and public groups.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 

Other Skills and Abilities:

· Take ownership and see work projects through to completion;

· Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality at all times;

· Significant knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required;

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.

Work Environment:

The work environment is a traditional office setting with recurring need to perform duties in a manufacturing, packaging and production environment and product testing/training laboratory. Some travel required.
