Fort Wayne Community Schools is Hiring a Nutrition Process Center: 8hr 52wk Dietetic Technician Near Fort Wayne, IN

The Diet Technician position will assist the Menu Planner/Dietitian in all menu aspects, including student allergy management and costing for the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). In addition, this position will also provide support for the department's catering and special event functions. The Dietetic Technician will also work collaboratively with other members of the Nutrition Services team to ensure that meals are prepared and served per established standards of quality, safety, and nutrition.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in nutrition, dietetics, or related field.
  • Completed a dietetic technician program approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) AND
  • Registered Dietetic Technician (DTR) certification or eligible to obtain registration within 6 months of employment.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to school food service programs is preferred.
  • Experience in food service management and/or menu planning preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members.
  • Must possess a valid Indiana driver’s license.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist the Menu Planner/Dietitian with the creation and analysis of menus to ensure compliance with nutrition standards, student preferences, and food cost
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the student allergy management program, including communication with parents/guardians, school staff, and healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Assist with the management and costing of the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of nutrition education programs for students, staff, and parents/guardians.
  • Conduct regular audits of menus and food production records to ensure accuracy and compliance with nutrition standards and regulations.
  • Provide support to kitchen staff and school personnel in matters related to food service operations.
  • Assist with inventory management and ordering of food and supplies as needed.
  • Participate in department meetings and trainings as required.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the Menu Planner/Dietitian to meet the particular needs of the department and must demonstrate participation in and contributions to the goals of the district cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records and reports related to menu planning, nutrition education, and other duties as assigned.

Pay: $22.96 - $28.36 per hour
