Work hours and expectations:
On/off-campus responsibilities any time between 6:00 am-8:00 am and/or between 2:00 pm and 5:30 pm Monday-Friday. Coaching responsibilities may result in extended weekday or weekend commitments, depending on meet schedule. All coaches are employed on a seasonal basis. Continued employment is based on annual performance reviews conducted by the Athletic Director(s).
Primary responsibilities:
Working closely with the Athletic Department, the Middle School and High School Coach of cross country is responsible for initiating various aspects of the running program, such as program development, training, working with team members, and working directly with the head cross country coach. The coach is required to abide by the rules, regulations, and expectations established by Fort Worth Christian. All Employees must abide by our Statement of Faith and Beliefs and our handbook, both at school and while off campus at personal or non-personal functions. FWC is a member of TAPPS.
Specific responsibilities:
Encourage, train, and coach the participants of the cross country program (Grades 6-8) or grades (9-12);
Coordinate the development and promotion of the cross country program (Grades 6-8) or grades (9-12) in conjunction with the mission of the school;
Organize and effectively implement practice sessions;
Must have an encouraging, professional attitude at all times;
Maintain a safe practice environment;
Represent Fort Worth Christian and the cross country program in a professional manner and within the bounds of good sportsmanship;
Required knowledge, skills, and experience:
Bachelor’s degree optional;
Possess and maintain a coaching philosophy that is in accordance with the vision and mission of Fort Worth Christian;
A solid commitment to the student-athlete concept;
2 years of Coaching or long-distance running experience is required;
Effective leadership and coaching skills;
Excellent communication skills with players, parents, and the athletic department;
Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to transport athletes to and from away meets/practices in a school vehicle/mini-transport bus.
