Reporting to the CEO, the Controller will support and manage the organization's financial well-being by preparing monthly financial statements, detailed monthly reporting, and analytic reporting. The Controller will also support the company's strategic growth through reporting metrics, budgeting to actual, and directing staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare timely and accurate monthly financials and reporting following GAAP
• Oversee journals and final GL balances, including month-end balance sheet reconciliations
• Maintain accuracy and integrity of accounting records and financial systems
• Produce accounts and reports as required, adhering to relevant accounting principles

Financial Management & Controls:

• Establish, monitor, and enforce financial policies and procedures
• Oversee and implement process improvement and finance initiatives
• Supervise accounts receivable (A/R) and accounts payable (A/P)
• Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws

Budgets and Forecasts:

• Prepare budgets and forecasts
• Monitor performance to achieve budget objectives by analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions

Financial Analysis:

• Report financial status by collecting, interpreting, and reporting results
• Develop finance strategies and contribute to strategic planning
• Evaluate trends, establish critical measurements, and monitor departmental KPIs

Staff Management:

• Manage accounting functions and team members and determine/ensure accountabilities
• Communicate and enforce values, policies, and procedures
• Hire, train, supervise, and appraise administrative and accounting staff

Qualification Requirements:

• BS/BA in accounting, finance, or relevant field; MBA is a plus
• CPA designation desired
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience
• Minimum 5 years of management experience
• Proven experience as a controller or similar role
• In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles (GAAP)
• Solid knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
• Analytical mind with strategic ability
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
• Industry experience preferred with a major label or branded consumer products company involved in e-commerce and distribution
• Commitment to exemplify leadership and serve as a role model and mentor
• Proficient in MS Office and financial management software. Previous experience with NetSuite and Shopify is a plus

• Effectively communicate with staff, clients, and consultants
• Professionally communicate verbally and in writing to give assignments to others
