Position Overview:
Fortuna Family Medicine Inc. is an independent primary care practice. The RN at Fortuna Family Medicine Inc., is instrumental in ensuring efficient patient care by performing various administrative and clinical tasks. This RN will oversee the flow of patients through the outpatient clinic experience and support the primary care providers through direct patient care, plus ancillary services.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Checking In Patients: Once patients have presented to the clinic for an office visit, the RN will transition them from the waiting room to the back office. During this transition the RN will measure vital signs as follows; weight, height, blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation.

Clinical Tasks:
1. Ensure all equipment and patient contact surfaces used in checking in patients is dis-infected appropriately
2. Perform clinical point of care testing after training provided and competency confirmed; Hgb/Hct, Hgb A1C, blood glucose, urinalysis, urine pregnancy and rapid strep.
3. Draw Blood via venipuncture using appropriate containers and labeling/preparing for pick up by the lab courier.
4. Injection. Intramuscular injection of medications and vaccines. Subcutaneous injection of medications and tuberculin skin testing.
5. Assist the Nurse Practitioner in any procedures, such as skin biopsies, wound care or PAP smears.
6. Perform orthostatic vitals, three step oxygen saturation testing, insulin teaching or urine drug testing when requested.

Administrative Tasks:
1. Assist with processing of paperwork when needed for completion of diagnostic imaging or laboratory testing orders.
2. Work with the clinic team to modify and improve clinic processes and patient experience.

4. Help with the development and coordination of community outreach lifestyle modification programs as time allows.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Must have a valid Nursing License in California.
• Proven experience with clinical patient interactions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to be adaptable and grow with a new Rural Health Clinic.
