We are seeking a highly qualified Board-Certified Urology Surgery Physician to provide comprehensive urological care at the Columbia VA Health Care System. You are adept at performing a full range of urological surgeries and procedures, offering clinical coverage, consultation, evaluation, assessment, and treatment of patients. The physician will be responsible for both minor and major surgical procedures, ensuring that all care meets or exceeds the American Association for Urologists' standards. This position also includes on-call duties, with the expectation of being available for callbacks as required.

CONTRACT LENGTH: One Year
Responsibilities

• Provide on-site urological care including consultations, evaluations, assessments, and surgical treatments.
• Perform minor and major surgical procedures as necessary.
• Offer clinical coverage during normal clinic hours: Monday through Friday, 0800-1630.
• Conduct scheduled surgeries on operating days: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, from 0700-1600.
• Ensure compliance with VA rules and regulations, particularly regarding clinic wait times and consult completion.
• Provide 24/7 consultation coverage for urology, including federal holidays, as per VA requirements.
• Monitor and manage consultation requests in collaboration with administrative personnel.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system.
• Carry a pager or cellular phone and remain within a 30-minute travel radius of the Columbia VA Health Care System while on call.

Qualifications

• License: Must hold a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
• Physicians with restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, or denied licenses will not be considered.
• Board Certification: Must be Board Certified by the American Board of Urology Surgeons.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent is required.
• Continuing education courses required for maintaining certification must be kept up to date.

Work Schedule

• Normal clinic hours: Monday through Friday, 0800-1630.
• Operating days: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, 0700-1600.
• On-call coverage: Required to be on-call 24/7 with a response time within 30 minutes when on call.

Additional Information

• The physician is expected to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the start of each scheduled shift.
• Off-hours coverage requires the physician to carry a pager or cellular phone and remain within a 30-minute travel radius of the Columbia VA Health Care System.
