Forward Slash Technology is Hiring a Cyber Security Technician Near St. Louis, MO

Forward Slash Technology is a St. Louis-based Cyber Security, Managed Services and Information Technology provider.

As a Cyber Security Technician, this role will be responsible for the implementation and management of Cyber Security tools. The individual will be responsible for monitoring the tool(s), incident response and containment and closure of Cyber Security alerts and incidents. They will also support the development of security architecture, policies and standards, and support IT Security Operations as an escalation resource.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Running diagnostic tests and analyzing data to spot threats to computer systems
  • Developing firewalls and other security measures to safeguard systems
  • Providing security recommendations based on vulnerability scans
  • Maintaining awareness of Cyber Security intelligence, threats, and operations and providing appropriate briefings to leadership
  • Aiding in the development and implementation of best practices that team members can follow to reduce the risk of data theft
  • Installing and maintaining antivirus software and systems
  • Responding to data threats to limit data loss and retake control of the system(s)
  • Writing reports outlining the finding of diagnostic tests and explaining the events of cyber-attacks when they occur

Required Skills and Experience

  • Extensive knowledge of computer science and information systems
  • Analytical skills to interpret complex data sets
  • Strong written communication skills to compile reports
  • Demonstrated oral communication skills to explain complex technical concepts in an easy-to-understand way and to collaborate with team members
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills to respond appropriately to immediate or potential threats
  • Time management skills to meet project deadlines
  • Observational skills to spot issues as quickly as possible

Experience

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology or Information Security, or in relevant field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the Cyber Security field (REQUIRED)
  • Certifications (One or more REQUIRED)
    • CompTIA Security
    • CPTE - Certified Penetration Testing Engineer or CEH - Certified Ethical Hacker
    • CISA - Certified Information Systems Auditor
  • You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below

  • Customer Service- works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services

  • Problem Solving- identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations

  • Must be able to pass a MSHP/Federal fingerprint-based background check
  • Must complete training for and successfully complete a CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Systems) Security & Privacy Training Certification
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have a valid US driver's license with a clean driving record
