KINSHIP NAVIGATOR PROGRAM MANAGER

Job Category: Family Programs

Job Status: Full-time

Job Summary: The Kinship Navigator Manager provides direct program supervision, HR oversight, program planning & implementation, QA controls, and staff training to FAC’s Kinship Navigator program. This program assists caregivers with understanding, navigating, and accessing the system of out-of-home care supports and services for children to strengthen the family while promoting stability for abused/neglected children in their care.

Responsibilities: 

Administrative Leadership and Management 

  • Supervise the Kinship Navigator program: implementation of quality service delivery
  • Employee satisfaction within the Kinship Navigator department
  • Build a sense of team within the department
  • Regularly conduct supervisory meetings with KN Specialists, providing support, guidance, and work product evaluation/feedback
  • Review/approve bi-weekly timesheets and monthly mileage
  • Complete probationary/annual employee evaluations
  • Ensure accurate documentation in the SAM database system monthly to meet funding requirements
  • Identify the training needs & professional development needs of staff
  • Monitor the workload of the Specialists
  • Assist with Kinship caregiver visits & follow up meetings
  • Ensure Kinship caregivers have proper support and advocacy
  • Work with the training department, in providing support groups & appropriate training for Caregivers
  • Coordinate family Kinship caregiver events for networking & social experiences
  • Assist in accepting referrals from the community,of kinship parents needing help to provide effective care to children
  • Accept inter-departmental referrals of FAC
  • Ensure all requirements of the initial narrative process are followed by KN specialists
  • Review/approve Kinship caregiver narratives, action plans, and documentation done by specialists
  • Occasional travel within Missouri to attend and/or present in-service training, to conduct Kinship Navigator training/presentations
  • Attend trainings, court, and actively participate in all leadership meetings
  • Create community connections to increase program referrals (ex: distribute brochures, schedule informational meetings, contact media outlets, speak at community events, booth exhibits, etc.). Send quarterly newsletters to community partners of program updates
  • Contribute towards agency culture, cultural competency, and performance improvement outcomes. Participate in staff meetings and assist other program staff
  • Analyze data to identify trends and directions for future systemic advocacy efforts
  • Participate in task forces, in-services, trainings, and other community networking opportunities to educate others about FAC’s programs and to promote partnerships and sponsorships 
  • Model ethical and professional behavior at all times
  • Participate in ongoing meetings/professional memberships and trainings as required by direct supervisor
  • Participate as an active team member with colleagues of all demographics to effectively serve clients

Outcome Planning/PQI

  • Measure effectiveness of the program, both internal and external
  • Lead a continuous quality improvement process throughout the program and service areas, and personnel growth
  • Review client files for ongoing quality assurance
  • Participate in client audit reviews; make updates/changes
  • Participate in the evaluation & implementation of service improvement

Financial Management

  • Oversee fiscally sound budget that meet budget expectations
  • Manage approved budget, and report progress and challenges to COO and CFO
  • Complete month end reports
  • Assist with grant planning, tracking and execution
  • Participate in annual budget planning process in conjunction with the CFO and COO

Strategic Planning

  • Provide input in short- and long-term planning, evaluation and positioning within FAC
  • Assist with the agenda, development, and implementation of growth strategies for FAC

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  • BS/BA (MA/MS preferred) in social work, psychology, public administration, or related human services field and 2 years experience working in non-profit social service agencies with management experience
  • Previous child welfare experience required
  • Previous experience working with at-risk populations
  • Resourceful in setting priorities & creating efficiencies
  • Organizational and planning skills
  • Commitment support and advocacy for relative/kinship families; personal experience or connection preferred
  • Collaborate & advocate for positive outcomes, working with multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic professional teams
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • A leader, team manager, and able to quickly establish rapport and build trust
  • Core understanding of program development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Flexible, self-starter; multi-tasker, detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines
  • Experience working with marginalized communities with a nuanced understanding of systemic oppressions
  • Flexibility/adaptability, able to shift styles to fit the needs of a wide range of cultures, people, and organizations
  • Flexibility in work hours including some evening/weekend appointments
