Fourth Street Clinic works to improve overall health outcomes for persons experiencing homelessness through access to high-quality, evidence-based healthcare in a trauma-informed setting. For many Utahns experiencing homelessness, Fourth Street Clinic is their first and only chance at a diagnosis and ongoing treatment. By increasing access to primary medical care, behavioral health, dental, pharmacy, specialty care, health education, and supportive services we are a major partner in ending homelessness, promoting community health, and achieving across-the-board healthcare savings.
The Medical Assistant (MA) is a crucial part of our clinical care team which supports our mission to provide fully integrated, trauma-informed care. This role assists Medical Providers and Behavioral Health staff and provides the first clinical touch to our patients after registration. beginning patient visits with a friendly, inviting demeanor, collecting vital signs and other preliminary health information for the visit, making entries in the patient's medical records, and assisting providers with triage and patient flow for optimized care. Medical Assistants at Fourth Street Clinic do so much more than just rooming patients and taking vitals; they work side-by-side with the whole Fourth Street team including In-Clinic, Mobile, Street, Behavioral Health, Vaccines, and periodic specialty clinics (like Orthopedic, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Optometry, and others.)

Fourth Street Clinic began in 1988 as a triage clinic with one part-time nurse, relying on hospital volunteers for patient treatment. Today, Fourth Street Clinic operates with a staff of nearly 100 individuals and an eight-figure annual budget. Last year, we provided comprehensive health care to 5,369 unsheltered individuals through more than 20,000 visits.
