POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of this position is to plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of the Clinical Services department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards. The DCO will work collaboratively with the administrative support team to establish an effective and efficient work environment to provide excellent quality of care to residents while embracing a culture of empowerment and educational development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a current RN license in the state of Texas
  • Bachelors Degree (preferred)
  • Prior nurse management in long term care/skilled nursing preferred


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for developing and overseeing the staffing schedule for the department
  • Develop and participate in the planning, conducting, and scheduling of timely in-service training as needed
  • Approve and validate payroll for the clinical department prior to submitting
  • Develop and implement resident care plans in coordinator with a physician, medical director, nursing staff, and outside consultants.
  • Assesses the quality of care rendered
  • Helps development of policies and procedures that govern nursing services and other services under his or her position control
  • Responsible for staff performance, staff recruitment, staff retention, and staff development to achieve positive resident outcomes
  • Responsible for collaborating with other departments and agencies regarding resources and services for improved patient care and staff development
  • Responsible for planning, developing, and implementing a budgeted process for staffing and services rendered
  • Evaluates the quality and cost-effectiveness of staffing and services within the goals of the facility
  • Serves as spokesperson for nursing matters and represents the facility with professional nursing and related organizations
  • Participates in appropriate meetings and committees
  • Promotes positive public relations with patients, residents, family members, and guests
  • Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations
  • Other duties as assigned
