GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Framingham Department of Nutrition and Health Studies seeks applications for a full-time temporary position (1-year, potentially renewable) starting fall 2024. The Department of Nutrition and Health Studies offers undergraduate degrees in Health and Wellness with concentrations in Public and Community Health and Fitness and in Food and Nutrition with concentrations in Dietetics and Food Service and Nutrition Program Management. The Department also sponsors an interdisciplinary minor in Public Health.

EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position involves undergraduate teaching in areas related to health, wellness, and nutrition, with a focus on Health and Wellness major and minor courses. Specific areas of teaching include:

  • Introductory personal and community health
  • Public health
  • Epidemiology
  • Global health and nutrition

Additional responsibilities include advising students, curriculum development, and service to the department. Candidates should have experience with teaching activities that promote the growth of an equitable, diverse, and inclusive academic environment. Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in nutrition, public health, or a related field by September 1, 2024
  • Must be able to work on campus starting September 1, 2024
  • Evidence of effective teaching at the University level
  • Experience as a health/nutrition professional
  • Demonstrated commitment to principles of diversity, inclusion and social justice in higher education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish or English and Portuguese are strongly encouraged to apply.


Additional Information:

This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position in the Massachusetts State College Association (MSCA) bargaining unit at a faculty rank commensurate with experience and credentials. Salary commensurate with experience in accordance with Appendix O of the MSCA contract.
