We currently have a position available to support the Director of Engineering in the implementation of all property and equipment, preventative maintenance and repairs, monitor life safety systems and utilities and assist in the administration of the compliance of hotel core values/standards and local, state and national codes to protect assets, guests and employees. Supervise the day-to-day operations. Recommend and implement procedural changes.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development and implementation of an ongoing maintenance program for guestrooms, meeting rooms, public space, and back of house spaces, kitchens and Hotel equipment.
  • Supervise the Engineering employees, minimal training and provide open communications.
  • Prioritize service requests: schedule and monitor the service performed to ensure customer satisfaction, safety and convenience. Ensure each Engineer goes beyond to provide professional and courteous guest service at all times.
  • Test and examine the life safety systems to ensure they are 100% operational at all times to protect the assets, guests and employees.
  • Perform inventory duties as required.
  • Complete projects and renovations as determined by the Director of Engineering and/or the General Manager.
  • Assume responsibilities of the Director of Engineering in his absence.
  • Responsible for guestroom Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Maintains and assists in the cleanliness of mechanical equipment rooms and maintenance shop.
  • Knowledgeable of the alarm system; location of smoke detectors, alarms and sprinkler shut off valves.
  • Responds to fire alarm system activation, relaying information to responding personnel, and to other staff.
  • Responsible for training of other staff including front office.
  • Keeps Director of Engineering informed of any problems that develop on shift or corrective actions necessary. Work all shifts as necessary.
  • Attend required meetings in the absence of Director of Engineering.
  • Able to handle stressful situations calmly and efficiently.

Work Experience, Skills and Abilities:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: Two years of prior maintenance experience, preferably in a hotel. Advanced Knowledge of the Building management/engineering profession. Supervisory skills, and ability to provide information and associated services to hotel management and guests.

Physical Demands in the Work Environment

Required to stand, walk and sit; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 50 pounds.
