JOB TITLE: HUD Compliance Specialist
REPORTS TO: Compliance Manager and VP of Compliance
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY: Seeking a detail-oriented Compliance Specialist with expertise in Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and HUD programs to join our team. The ideal candidate will ensure our organization's adherence to all relevant regulations and policies while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and efficiency
PRIMARY DUTIES include the following but are not limited to:
- Implement and oversee compliance programs and policies related to LIHTC and HUD regulations
- Conduct initial lease-ups and ensure ongoing compliance with program requirements
- Perform regular internal audits to verify adherence to regulatory standards
- Review and understand various types of documents for verification purposes
- Provide detailed directions and training to staff on compliance expectations and matters
- Collaborate with different departments to ensure organization-wide compliance
- Prepare and submit compliance reports to Owners, Investors, and Regulatory agencies
- Stay updated on changes in housing regulations and standards, particularly for LIHTC and HUD programs
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Compliance Specialist, preferably in the multifamily affordable housing field
- In-depth knowledge of LIHTC program regulations and requirements
- Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to on-site staff
- Familiarity with HUD programs; knowledge of HOME program is a plus
- Excellent mathematical skills for accurate financial calculations and reporting
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high levels of accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Office 365 Outlook, SharePoint
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong communication and collaborative skills
- Willingness and ability to travel as required for site visits and audits
QUALIFICATIONS:
- HCCP Certification or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in affordable housing compliance
